Popular Tyre 'Robot Love / I Wanna Be Ignored'
(Eat Some Real)
Older readers may remember Slack's 'Painkiller' being one of the heavy duty
milestones in the early Sabres Of Paradise canon. Now he's back, in
distinctly electro-mode with the obligatory treated vocal and metallic
hump-groove conjuring images of the robotic bell-end splitting its bolts and
applying a rampant flame-thrower to the nuts. The flip's 'I Wanna Be
Ignored' mines a deeper, more human, trough of emotional darkness.
But why Popular Tyre?

Popular Tyre - Robot Love EP
Here is this week's weird one, another mysterious 10". Popular Tyre are, it seems two blokes who 'Just Want To Get Drunk And Sing' (as it says on the run out groove). It sounds like they can do more than that by the two tracks here. "Robot Love" is a very heavy dark electro house number with a fantastic sub bass, huge synth stab and sleazy vocals, definitely a winner for the druggy end of clubland. Over on side-B we have "I Wanna Be Ignored" which goes off on a bit of a downbeat / Balearic tip, nice easy groove softly sung vocals (again sleaze is the key) in the latter half the track involves some nifty synth work, nice guitar and a bit of vocoder action for good measure. Very good indeed.

POPULAR TYRE : Robot Love EP
EAT SOME REAL RECORDINGS 10"
The is the first release for Eat Some Real Recordings and what a start! The A side 'Robot Love' is a massive, crunchy electro houser with a killer bassline and should not be overlooked! The B side is no slouch either but the A side is the one for sure.
