Nick Barrett AKA. Soulstar has been professionally writing and producing music for over a decade. Over that time he has created an enviable catalogue of influential music inspired by some of the biggest names in R&B, Soul and Hip Hop.Nick enjoyed European chart success in 2000 when 'The Bug' reached no. 1 in 3 Countries; crowning the up and coming artist as one of the youngest to top the singles chart.Nick’s undeniable talent is born in the studio where he both pens and produces his art from start to finish. A master of melody, Nick brings infectious and accessible tune to a discerning, urban backline. His complex vocal layering and experimental harmonies are actually the result of the 25 year old artist just doing what he loves; making music with impact; no engineers, no composers, no industry producers. As the sole author and producer of his music, it is easy to see why Nick’s stage show is delivered with such integrity; from the passion of a slow jam to the energy of a club hit. The last decade has seen Soulstar take to the stage with artists including Lemar, Daniel Beddingfield, Artful Dodger, Romeo, Westlife and Girls Aloud. He performed live to the nation, in front of a live crowd of 15,000 on the televised Children in Need concert in 2004.One such live performance led to Nick being invited to star in T4’s Musicool, a Channel 4 series dedicated to bringing a contemporary edge to musical theatre, drawing on the talents of 10 up and coming, pioneering artists from varying musical genres. 10 weeks of artistic interpretation and performance saw Nick collaborate with great artist mentors including Jermaine Jackson. The efforts of the cast culminated to produce a ground breaking theatre performance delivered live to the UK on prime time Channel 4. Nick is now working with Mr Midas, a co cast member, and MOBO unsigned Best Newcomer, on new material for 2008 release.Currently courting independent and major label interest, Soulstar is set to bring his music to a wider audience this year. With a UK tour and selected European dates penned into the performance calendar, expect to see great things in 2008; as the UK artist brings years of soul-reaching creativity to stages of all sizes, to crowds of all backgrounds, and to all those who can relate…
