Heeeeeeeeeeeere's Lulu!

About Me

I'm married, a stay-at-home mom, active in my community, addicted to listening to music, love to chat with my .. friends, and generally a cheery girl! I wish I was an erudite intellectual-type but, sadly, I can't be bothered...

My Interests

Experiencing live music, cooking, shopping, reading, cocktails, watching soccer, laughing at my husband's jokes, staring at my kids in amazement that I am responsible for their creation and well-being, parenthetical asides [not unlike this one (or, even better, this one)], spreading joy

I'd like to meet:

All of my beloved furumaniacs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Music:

a-ha, Magne F, the Police, Savoy, XTC, Beck (I hate it when I agree with the Cool Police, but he really is a genius), Weezer, Green Day, Duran Duran, Beastie Boys, Tina Dico, Depeche Mode, the Smiths, Sting, The Killers, KT Tunstall, Teitur, Belly, the Breeders, the Go-Gos, Loretta Lynn's Van Lear Rose is a masterpiece and certainly in my all-time top 10 (it's strange that I love Jack White on this album and the Raconteurs but have not been able to get into White Stripes; must give them another try!)

Movies:

Fargo, Office Space, Grease, Pretty in Pink, Sixteen Candles, Lost in Translation, Planes Trains and Automobiles, Spinal Tap

Television:

Lost, Desperate Housewives, Amazing Race, Survivor, EPL, Arrested Development (until the evil TV gods cancelled it!), Seinfeld reruns [unlike other good, old shows (Cheers, comes to mind) old Seinfelds don't become creepy and icky-atmospherish], The Office (UK version only; the US version bugs even though I really wanted to like it), Scrubs (I took a break from it for a couple of years and it's funnier than I remembered...), The Brady Bunch

Books:

Lolita, anything by Steinbeck, epic fantasy (how embarrassing!), poorly-written but still-entertaining airplane fiction (DaVinci Code being a prime example)

Heroes:

Anyone who has had to overcome adversity and is still able to be a positive impact on the world (because I have had a pretty cushy life and feel guilty about it).

My Blog

The resolution will not be televised!

Sorry...that was the only 'resolution' pun I could think of without actually putting any effort into it. As always, I've become very reflective as the year closes.  I think about what's happened ...

OCD Made Me Listen to Kenny G!

I have often joked about the fact that I have some OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Dirsorder) tendencies.  Nothing serious.  I don't require medicating or anything (I swear!) but I have certain co...

Tornado!!!!!!!!!!

Ah well, since not much exciting happens to me I thought I'd blog about the tornado that hit my little corner of the universe last week.  As usual, it is incredibly long-winded... The storm on Th...

Confessions of a Bargain Hunter -or- How I Became a Kung Fu Junkie

I am a devout bargain hunter.  I love a bargain.  I can smell a bargain.  And that is how I became a Kung Fu Junkie. Although I try to live modestly, I can't deny that I have an affinit...

Essential Music Collection

As some of you may know, I (like most of you probably) have a bit of a music obssession.  I mean, it's how I ended up on myspace in the first place (and thus ends the poetry portion of this ...

Boy Meets Girl - A Tale of Love and Destiny Told in Reverse

I can still clearly remember the first time I laid eyes on my husband Steve. But was it really our first meeting? Is it possible that a boy born in More, England and a girl born 9 days later in Washin...

A Fleeting Greeting

Third time's the charm... I've written two attempts at a blog that have been lost when I hit post.  We're pirating someone's wireless connection and it is fleeting at best. Suffice to say the bea...

My husband is in lust with another woman...

...but I don't mind because I have found myself a new boy toy! *gasp!* Have the Cornacchias become stereotypical myspace swinger types?  Fear not!  We are still in our safe, suburban monogam...

The Decline of Decency

This is more of  a mini-rant than a blog.  I just wonder what has happened to common decency?  Particularly, in this case, in the retail and service industries.  I have worked in f...
