About Me

Jamaican born, jazz vocalist, pianist, arranger, and vocal instructor.I'm a classically trained vocalist and pianist. I don't ever turn my back on that even though I'm consumed by that need to be a better jazz musician. I love to combine these two spectacular worlds of music in my arrangments, and will hopefully have that on an album before the year is out. I want to be more experimental, you know, there's something inside that cries out for "a standard differently."I've performed with Russell Malone, Christian McBride, Josh Groban, Ira Sullivan, Gloria Estefan and for so many others in several viens, as performer, conductor, arranger. I've even performed for Mr. Donald Trump and his family at their lovely home in Palm Beach, quite an evening. Influences: You know, the basics and the necessaries....Ella, Sarah, Carmen...and of course there's Nina Simone, Betty Carter, and the great story teller, Nancy Wilson. There's Shirley Horn and the buxom Peggy Lee. But of course you can't leave out Dexter Gordon, Sonny Rollins, and Mr. Coltrane.Almost every cool sideman i've ever worked with. That feeling of sharing in the moment is deeply spiritual. It changes you inside and out.Kevin Mahogany, Kurt Elling, Joe Williams, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr. are among some the male voices that strongly influence me.Anita O'Day, Sade, Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, Jill Scott and the list goes on and on.

Class Reunion

I can't beleive it, It's time for my class reunion. Who goes to a class reunion, you know who..people who liked school. I didnt like school, I couldnt justify getting up at 5am...
