My criteria for adding bands I don't listen to is if it is indipendant and/or underground and/or needing exposure help and I can apreciate the talent. If it is a friends band and/or I am on friendly terms with one, some, or all of the band members. And finally, if I have it solely for networking purposes, ie:some advantage to it, like it is a band that equally helps me/my band out, or returns the exposure favor! Movies:
Movies are much like the TV, but at least there are better movies made often, as thank god for the underground and indipendent markets! But I don't mind a hollywood movie if it's good, Like say "Kill Bill", or "Sin City"... I lIke horror, like the "Nightmare On Elm Street" series! Rob Zombie's film work. I also like movies made form books I like, AS LONG AS IT'S DONE WELL AND NOT BASTARDIZED!!!! I like certain actors/actresses, so I will check out movies they are in often... And otherwise, for movies, it's much like I said with music, books, and TV!!!! So I would say GOOD Horror movies, which most modern Hollywood ones ARE NOT GOOD!(Thinking of Scream, ect....IF you really wanna call THAT Horror!) I like spoofs, and I like Brittish Comedy like Monty Python movies... I like HORROR!!!! I CANNOT STRESS THAT ENOUGH!!!! Nightbreed, Hellraiser, Children Of The Corn, The Shining, Pet Semetary, The Stand, ALL STEPHEN KINg AND CLIVE BARKER PRETTY MUCH!!!! Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Lord Of The Rings(though it's hard to sit though all of it!), Evil Dead, Black Sheep, The People VS Larry Flint, Natural Born Killers, The Crow, So I Married An Axe Murderer, Funny Farm, Strangeland, and again, as most catagories, ALOT of OLDER movies, and TALENTED movies! Alot of underground/inie movies!
Television:
TV, like most other forms of media, in itself is not that bad, but the programming and shows are pretty shitty! I like intelligently made to be stupid parodies and satires on real life, like South Park, Simpsons, family Guy, King Of The Hill, ect... Sometimes CSI - but I think it's retarded all the spin-offs it's produced! I'm not much for new shows, as most of them are stupid reality TV crap like bullshit Idol, or Faggot Survivor... Again, I guess like my music, I like talented and/or intelligent stuff! I like alot of Brittish shows, but my father is Brittish, so... So again, I guess mainly old and older shows! I like Married With Children, cartoons we grew up with like Tom & Jerry, Looney Tunes, ect... Invader Zim(I LOVE Johnen Vasquez!) Married With Children, Oz... I'm struggling to find more! (I know there's gotta be more non-animated shows...)
Books:
I like to read books on things I'm interested in...(see above!)
Been a little while since I had time to read a (fictional) book... When I do it's usually Horror or Fantasy(High-Fantasy... If you don't know that's stuff like JRR Tolkein, and NOT like those D&D books, ect...) But some worth mentioning... Lord Of The Rings(I grew up with them! I was read them as a baby by my mother!)and ALL other Tolkein! Any and all David Eddings(another very good high fantasy author! Acctually, writes with his wife, Leigh!), Terry Brookes(Only read a few, though he has a series of High-Fantasy based in modern times and in our world, called "Will & The Word" or something like that, that is VERY good!), again- ALL of Stephen King, All Clive Barker, Dan Browne... So many more, but like I said, I haven't been reading alot of fiction these days...
Heroes:
Well, my heros are not as such as puting them on a pedistool... BUT, there are those that I revere and respect and look up to alot... If I were make it easy, I'd say any who I respect, like those up in the music section... But I will go out on another limb, to mention a couple I suppose... I would have to say ANYONE and EVERYONE who fought and stood up to and for, and taught what they believe in! That would include Ghandi - Buhddah - even just ol'Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King or Mother Theresa! I would also Have to say those who have saved me from time to time through their music, Like all of Tool, or what Maynard has to say... But most of all, those who were known for what they would considder, JUST BEING THEMSELVES! John Lennon(RIP), Paul McCartney... Also, as a guitar player, I could go furhter into guitar "gods", like Dimbag Darrel(RIP), Kerry King, Slash... But like I said, I do not have "heroes" per-say, but I respect those who deserve respect for the things that they deserve respect for! That also includes many friends I have had in my lifetime!
