Waynesboro Pennsylvania native, i! Records recording artist Kevin Yost, is both venerated and in high demand attributable to his various trail blazing works as a DJ as demonstrated by his collaborations with such highly esteemed artists as, Eric Clapton, the Kodo Drummers, Cirque de Soleil, and Everything but the Girl, to name a few. He tours extensively both in the United States and abroad at several of the worlds most revered venues and festivals in order to satiate the desire of his existent and ever-increasing fan base. Justifiably so particularly following the recent undertaking of the formation of his own jazz group the Kevin Yost Group. Incontrovertibly, this is to be the vehicle that will transport him to the next level of artistic expression and achievement. The group possesses the vision, aptitude, and support base to see this come to fruition.The Kevin Yost Group consists of six members who are from Pennsylvania and the surrounding area. The founder and visionary, Kevin Yost who has studied at both the Berklee College of Music and the Shenandoah Conservatory focusing on honing his skills in percussion and composition, demonstrates his exceptional brilliance when playing the drums. Seasoned player Howard Burns received his undergraduate music degree from Howard University and graduate degree from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Belgium. He plays the saxophone and flute in his long-established spellbinding style exclusive to him alone. Burns has played with widely acclaimed artists as Earth, Wind, and Fire, The Temptations, among countless others. Since 1990, he has been the music instructor and director for the Fredrick Community College Jazz Ensemble; additionally he is a member of both a jazz quartet and trio. Additional members of the Kevin Yost Group include Brent Burgee who evinces his distinctive ability on keyboards. Eric Wyckoff plays the guitar and keyboards as though it requires no effort. Rob Adair dexterously plays bass, and along with Eric plays in a group entitled Teach. Last but not least, Adam Todaro displays zeal of the greatest magnitude on percussion. All members are consummate musicians who are involved artistically in various endeavors.Kevin has maintained his vision for this live project that of combining the rhythmic structure of his electronic music that he is famed for, and further emphasizing melody and live expression and in doing so is clearly en route to creating a new subgenre of jazz. The group adeptly utilizes its various influences of jazz, rock, funk, latin, and blues to create an unforgettably inimitable and emotive sound that incites sensations of rapture from the listener, extinguishing inhibitions and setting their spirit free. They are storytellers who build upon their vast experiences and musical expertise employing their sensibilities to create entrancing stories which contain pinnacles of emotion that reverberate in the souls of those who listen which distinguishes them from any other group of its kind.
