This is Panama, Host and Executive Producer of THE CLUTCH. Here's a little information about our show, which began in 2003.
Welcome to the world of the Urban Sport Bike Rider. Many of these daredevils are seen as terrors on the streets whether they are in Brooklyn, New York or Los Angeles, California performing insane high-speed stunts, always looking for more dangerous thrills and one-upping each other on their bikes whether it be wheelies, stoppies, burnouts or just drag racing for bragging rights. Street racing and extreme stunting (Moto Freestyle) is part of a growing subculture on the motorcycle scene. They are not hooligans - in the classic sense of the term - They are a new breed of Outlaw Biker. There are annual events aimed at competition Freestyle riding, with performances from a host of professional Street Extreme teams from all across the country and featuring guest stars from the Freestyle Motocross world, performing aerial acrobatics and jumps over anything and everything. These events come with dangerous stunts, crashes and injuries -- but also refreshments, paraphernalia sales, and the camaraderie of being out with like-minded souls.
These sport bikers and street extreme teams are a new breed of outlaw biker for a new century. They are showing off their impressive riding skills, their chrome, beautifully painted bikes and helmets, their riding gear, the colors and the names of the clubs they represent and the size of their cohunes. Millions of fans all across the country and mainstream media are beginning to take notice. Its a wild mix of brash, flat-out guts, style and a strong sense of market appeal. THE CLUTCH will cover the emerging EXTREME stunt scene and the sub-culture surrounding these unique motorcyclists and their fans. THE CLUTCH will take viewers inside the world of the urban sport bike rider and the Moto Freestyler, riding along with them to hear them explain how it all came together as a club or group, their machines and their equipment, their language, where they are heading, and who they've lost to accidents over the years. We'll also get some one-on-one time with celebrities that have a passion and love for the sport like R&B Crooner, Motown recording artist and Ruff Ryder, Brian McKnight and the greatest Basketball player of all time, Michael Jordan. In their own way, extremely articulate about the passion and the exhilaration that comes from the manic riding and hard partying that characterize this exclusive club, theyre no-nonsense in the extreme, and filled with bravado and a sub-text of we dare you to top this. And yet, each in his own way is extremely serious about his sport, his machine and about being the best. As the Street Extreme movement gains speed, a cottage industry is growing to serve these guys.
THE CLUTCH is a close-up, behind-the-scenes look at a sub-culture on the very edge. With a following as loyal as its critics are harsh. It will be a high-adrenaline, testosterone-fuelled ride into a rough-hewn, fast-paced world on the verge of breaking into the mainstream . . . the next new sport very much in the tradition of the X-Games and Gravity Games with BMX bikes, freestyle motorcross, roller blades, skateboards and snowboards. All were counter-cultures as they fought for acceptance. In style, tone and pacing, THE CLUTCH will mirror the antics, the partying and the W.F.O. (Wide Fing Open) philosophy the Sports biker lives by. It will be loud, smoky and edited to communicate the feel of speed and danger. In look, well capture the view from their Point-Of-View, while featuring the music, the fashion and, above all, the attitude that make a genuinely unique new scene. If it is the definition of art to create something new that didnt exist before . . . then these guys have to be considered artists in their own right. The art of the street extreme . . . furred-out or chromed out and up on one wheel. Its the art of speed, attitude, and living constantly on the edge. Motorcycles, Music, Models & Mayhem.
