Dean Atta is 22 years old, of Jamaican and Greek Cypriot heritage and grew up in North West London. He is happiest on stage and has been performing from a young age in West End musicals as well as community theatre and poetry open mic nights.Dean is currently working as a drama and poetry workshop facilitator and peer mentor for young people both freelance and for the Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith, teaching the Lyrics @ Lyric Performance Poetry Course with friend and mentor Joseph Coelho (see top friends). Dean is in the process of writing a one man show, a Hip Hop musical with DJ Halo (top friend), shooting short films for his poems, and workshopping the exciting new play 'Boarded Windows' (top friend).Dean's poetry has been featured on BBC Radio 4, Shot from the Lip (top friend), and various publications, and he supported the critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Terri Walker at London's prestigious Jazz Cafe.Having graduated from the University of Sussex with a 2:1 in Philosophy and English Literature BA (Honours), he is already an accomplished actor, youth worker and award-winning poet and was President of the African, Caribbean & Asian Society whilst at university. Dean featured in Justin Donaldson's hard hitting play 'Karma' where he was spotted by Bruce Wall at the London Shakespeare Workout. His role in John Donnelly's 'Bone' at Brighton's New Venture Theatre received rave reviews and showed the true versatility and depth of Dean's acting abilities.
