George Jackson began his career in house music as the label manager for Steve “Silk” Hurley’s record label, Silk Entertainment. Under Hurley’s guidance, George learned the music business from the executive side as well as the creative side. While at Silk Entertainment, George remixed Ann Nesby’s “Lovin’ Is Really My Game”. He also assisted Hurley on the remix of “Soul Shakedown” by Bob Marley, which was released on Koch Records (Canada) and Grammy nominated in 2002.
As a DJ, George has played in some of USA's hottest nightclubs having recently headlined alongwith CeCe Peniston & DJ Eddie X for Pride 2007 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He has also traveled overseas and has played in Australia and England as well. George has shared the bill alongside other world-renowned DJs & singers such as Frankie Knuckles, Lenny Fontana, Jesse Saunders, Ron Carroll, Paul Johnson, Terry Hunter, Dajae, Screamin Rachel, Fast Eddie, Byron Stingly, Darryl Pandy, Farley Jackmaster Funk, The Grand High Priest (Craig Loftis), & more.
With his productions, George has gained recognition for his co-production with The Diskonauts entitled “Call My Name” which featured the sensational vocalist, Sharon Pass. George has also collaborated with The Audiowhores from the U.K. and singer/songwriter RaShaan Houston on the hot tune, entitled “Work It Out” (Peppermint Jam Records). George & Babatunde Williams co-produced the tune “Happy” (RaShaan Houston feat. Magic Touch/Bumpin City Records); George's productions have been featured on some of the worlds hottest dance compilations including Southport Weekender Vol. 4 (mixed by legendary DJ Tony Humphries / suSu Records-UK); Multi-Tempo 15, ClubMixed Volume 2, Francesco Diaz Vol. 3; & Multitrax Step 44; flanking artists such as Armand Van Helden, C&C Music Factory, Jocelyn Brown, The Black-Eyed Peas, Snoop Dog, Charlie Wilson, Justin Timberlake, Shakira, Missy Elliot, Ciara, Gwen Stefani, Ashanti, Stephanie Mills, Bohannon & Vincent Montana, just to name a few!
Using the moniker DJ George J, he produced the UK dance anthem entitled “Never Gonna Let You Go” (DJ George J. feat. Sevynn/Champion Records UK); which reached number 6 on the UK Club Charts and went into pop radio rotation on the UK radio shows of Pete Tong, Judge Jules and The Slammin Boys, to name a few. George has completed two productions with house music legendary vocalist Xaviera Gold.
Next, George is one of the featured producers on the Chicago LP & DVD by joining forces with many other Chicago House Music hitmakers (past & present) and forming one of the greatest house music collaborations of all-time. His production of “Another Day” (featuring Xaviera Gold) can be heard on the Chicago LP.
Some of George's latest productions such as “Warrior” (RaShaan Houston) which has been released on his own label, Ruff N' Tuff Records, Inc.; features remixes by Grammy nominated remixer Eric E–Smoove Miller and a remix by Chicago legend, Ron Carroll. Another one of George's most recent collaborations include RaShaan Houston & platinum recording artist CeCe Peniston, co-writing lyrics together on the song entitled “Its Alright“ (RaShaan Houston), and produced by UK producer Dave RedSoul Wareing (Generate Music). George, Markeydisko, and Ellery Cowles have also teamed up on their latest Diskonauts production entitled “Lost In HyperSpace” (Otobrown Recordings). Also, watch out for his most recent production entitled “I Need To Get Away” (RaShaan Houston) which is currently buzzing in the underground. This and more coming very soon!
Outside of a heavy production schedule, George is the CEO of his own record label, Ruff N' Tuff Records, Inc.; and music publishing company, GeeJay Music, Inc. George is going to continue to strive to be the best!
