About Me

Phonetic Recordings has established itself as one of the world's leading Dance Music labels. Formed by CEO/Director Rob Roar in 2001, Rob has worked for some of House Music's pioneering labels including Head of A&R stints at Slip 'N Slide/Kickin and Global Cuts .... the house imprint of the infamous R&S Records in Belgium with Rob playing a big part in helping the labels achieve the legendary status they hold today.
Phonetic stamped their name firmly in Dance Music History by smashing the record books when they became the first label in the world to deliver Four No.1 records in Ibiza in consecutive years (2001 Max Linen 'The Soulshaker', 2002 Max Linen 'Paradiso Del Mundo', 2003 Kujay DaDa 'Young Hearts', 2004 Max Linen 'Flashback'). An amazing feat. when you consider the sheer volume of material that every top label/producer ploughs into the white isle over the summer to try and achieve that accolade once. No one else has achieved it twice, let alone Four times.
Ibiza 2004 - Phonetic has 3 records in the Ibizan DJ Mag hype chart for both editions (July & Aug) the only label to do so. Back in the UK three records hit the No.1 spot in Mixmag Consecutively & the 4th in @ No.2.
Every Phonetic release has ridden high at the very top of the Buzz, Coolcuts & UK Club Charts with each record then becoming a hit in almost every territory on the planet with Major & Independent labels.
2004 House Music Awards - Phonetic are nominated as 'Label of the year' alongside Defected, Subliminal, Hed Kandi, Def Mix & Positiva
2005 House Music Awards - Phonetic Director Rob Roar is nominated as 'Outstanding A&R' alongside Erik Morrillo, Jason Ellis (Positiva) & Simon Dunmore (Defected)
The summer of 2005 - Braund Reynolds 'Rocket (a natural gambler)' received interest/offers from Warner, Mercury, Atlantic & Virgin. Eventually signed to Virgin with the act being a ten-piece band. The track hit the 'A' list at Radio 1, was record of the week for Jo Whiley & Scott Mills...The Video hit the prestigious No.1 spot on the Box with a LIVE appearance on CH4's Saturday Morning Popworld show.
The last 18 Months has seen Phonetic co-release with Majors all over the globe, with National Chart pushes from Sony, Positiva, EMI, Universal, BMG, Virgin, TEN & Nebula.
The Phonetic Roster boasts some of House Music's Hottest talent including Max Linen, Rob Roar, Allister Whitehead, Braund Reynolds, Martijn ten Velden, KuJay DaDa, DJ Gee (Bora Bora), Patrick Alavi, JDS, Yousef (Radio1) & Steve Mac. 2006 also saw label founder Rob Roar record with the legendary Tom Jones - check www.myspace.com/robroar1
2007 see's Phonetic launch it's club tour dates bringing their sound directly to the nation's dancefloors, parties already having gone down a storm at Miss Moneypennys & Bora Bora - Ibiza (2005) with Live PA's from the likes of Braund Reynolds, Dina Vass & Mary Pearce (KuJay DaDa), and also the launch of a new website www.phoneticrecordings.com and branding...
