Proudly hailing from Clonakilty in West Cork. 2007 saw Setmaker reach the final of the Coca-Cola Blast: Beat Battle of the Bands. Finishing in the top three after a storming set in Dublin’s Vicar St. venue, the competition was the highlight of a year that saw them play live on stage with Mundy in De Barra’s of Clonakilty and support bands such as The Walls, David Kitt, BellX1 and The Frank and Walters. Having met in the local community college Music Society in Clonakilty, Setmaker formed in 2004 and began gigging in the their local well-known live music venue, De Barra’s in Clonakilty. They have played the Clonakilty International Guitar Festival’s for the last three years and cite The Frames, Bell X1, The Walls and Jeff Buckley as influences. In the past year Setmaker reached the final sixteen of the prestigious Murphy's Live 2008 competition, along with establishing a steady following in Cork city and indeed further afield.
"...Setmaker flirt between subtle Bell X1-style tunesmithery and the sort of big music that The Waterboys made in their commercial heyday..."
