About Me

WELCOME. I decided to open a myspace account in order to meet people I might not otherwise reach in the next couple of months. I am a Fianna Fail candidate in Cork South West for the forthcoming General Election and I would like to keep people up to date with my campaign so that you can make an informed choice.I wish to represent the young people of my constituency and believe their voices should be heard. I hope you will have a look at my profile and let me know about any issues which may be of concern to you and the area in which you live.I reside at Tawnies, Clonakilty with my wife Paddi, who is originally from Kinsale and we have a family of seven: Pauline, Charles, Ann, Julie, Eimear, Christopher and Grace. Born and reared in Bredagh Cross, Drimoleague, I have worked for many years in both the construction supply business and in the agricultural sector throughout West Cork, but since my election to Cork County Council in 1999, I have been a full-time public representative. Seeing the problems faced in this constituency first hand, prompted me to contest the 1999 Council election as an Independent where I received an overwhelming endorsement from the people. I also stood as an independent candidate for the Dail election of May 2002, where I was extremely encouraged by the support I received from the people of Cork South West. In 2004, I was again successfully elected to Cork County Council. I wish to take this opportunity to thank everybody who supported me in those two election campaigns, especially all those who gave up their free time to canvass or help out in other ways.Since my election to Cork County Council, I am satisfied that I have worked to the best of my ability for my constituency on the many issues which were brought to my attention and look forward to continuing that work with your support as a member of Fianna Fail. Please feel free to contact me, where you can be assured of my best attention at all times.

My Interests

Interests include horses, trotting, sulky racing, road bowling, restoring old cottages.

Music:

Sam Clague, my grandson. Irish music. The music industry in West Cork is alive and well and contributes greatly to our tourist industry. Clonakilty, Kinsale, Bandon, Baltimore, Bantry and now Ballydehob all host wonderful music festivals. The organisers should be supported and congratulated on their efforts.
