Nicks is a high energy, polished performer both on stage and in the studio. He writes a lot of his material and is currently honing the craft with some veteran, hit writers in Nashville, Tennessee where he is based. This charismatic and dynamic, singer/songwriter is a rising force among a strong crop of newcomers in todays country music scene.

Nicks is currently supporting a new album "Redneck Cadillac". Produced by Dave Fowler and Jack Gavin at Rising Sun Studios Nashville, Tn. Some great players featuring Kent Wells, known for years of great work with Dolly Parton and Jimmy Mattingly on fiddle of the Grascals and of course Jack Gavin who built a career with Charlie Daniels on drums. With some strong original material it makes up an impressive debut collection as country music learns of James Nicks around the country and the world. Songs from "Redneck cadillac" are being played overseas in Europe and abroad on a regular rotation. When Nicks played to crowds in Dublin, Ireland, they shouted in unison for more! more! to two ovations while eating up Nicks' "American country. " He is currently writing a new album and hopes to record as soon as possible. Nicks has appeared on the original national tv talent show, Star Search with Ed McMahon. He also made two appearances on the CBS series "Touched by an Angel" showcasing him to a national audience. His first independent album release "Small Town Boy" was a local/regional success receiving airplay in the Midwest.
Nicks came to Nashville in November of 1996 to pursue a dream of making records at the highest level. While growing up in Salt Lake City, Utah, he began singing in church, school, weddings and anywhere he could out of the pure love of music. He was a celebrated singer at the high school level receiving a music scholarship to Weber State University. He never stopped loving music, but changed his major to journalism and transferred to Oral Roberts University in 1997.

He played honky tonks, music festivals, concerts and rodeos, etc. thru the 90s. He settled in Utah as a writer for a daily newspaper and doubled as a broadcast news correspondent on the 5 oclock news for KUTV, the NBC affiliate at the time, until moving to Music City. Nicks has two children, Austin Tyler and Dallas Antonio. His children are his life-blood to all things. They are his inspiration regularly while writing. James was raised singing gospel music and still holds his faith near to his heart. Nicks always leaves it all on stage.
