Ben & the Immigrants in Greece
Ben & the Immigrants were formed in February 2005 in Stirling, Scotland. They are a diverse mix of musicians, consisting of:
Ben Jones from London, England (vocals, acoustic guitar)
Jorge del Pozo from Valladolid, Spain (lead guitar)
Giorgos Koukoulis from Athens, Greece (rhythm guitar)
Albert Girons from Barcelona, Catalonia (bass, vocals)
Giorgos Gerasimidis from Thessaloniki, Greece (drums) and
Vasilis Avdelas from Thessaloniki, Greece (keyboards, piano)
In the few months that they all stayed in Stirling, they managed to give 2 gigs, record a demo EP and shoot some video material that led to the creation of 3 music videos and an EPK. The video for the song "Others" was in fact aired by the Greek music channel BTV in October 2005. In March 2006 they reunited in Scotland for a second demo recording, the infamous "Hangover Sessions".
In September 2007 they reunited in Greece, travelled to Rio, Patra and held the recording sessions of "Long Distance Relationships" under the guidance of Christos Galanopoulos .
Right now, as proper immigrants, the members of the band have once more dispersed across Europe. Ben studies in Blackpool, Jorge continues his studies in Stirling (but lives in Edinburgh), Albert is working in Barcelona while the Greeks are drinking cold coffee (frappe) in Athens and Thessaloniki respectively. However, they keep being musically active through the internet. Plans for the future include finding the next reason to get back together, play music and enjoy each other's company.
As Ben, the only non-immigrant of the group states:
"We will always be immigrants"
