We are recording our Debut Album, New Tracks to be sampled here soon
Mike creates the sounds, the grooves, the tracks, Marijne then slaps them into song shape with her vocal melodies and lyrics and E-da finishes them off with beats and gorgeous subtle sound effects. They are creating a soundtrack for life, its organic and true-
Mike and Marijne were introduced to each other by their mutual friend and Ace Guitarist Debbie Smith, formerly of Curve and Echobelly
Marijne needed to exercise her creative lungs and Mike needed a singer, so Debbie match made them, and they liked each others work
They got writing and out of their union came 4 strong tracks. Hey Cowboy, More, The Go Between and Forever
They called themselves Cowboy Kate. Things were going well, they even had Dave Barb (Adam and the Ants, Republica) on drums, (another Ms Smith match). They were rehearsing to go live, but Marijne freaked, decided she had enough of the music biz and couldn't quite muster the strength to go back to it after the demise of Salad
So one day mid rehearsals she said, sorry chaps, gonna go and get a proper job, and promptly departed, leaving the boys nicely in, how you say, the lurch
So they took a break, Marijne worked as a Creative Producer for TV channels and Designer of Bespoke Leather Handbags and Mike got involved in several Film Projects and Music Production
That was 2001. Round came 2005. Marijne had exorcised a few demons, Dave and Mike had parted company and Mike welcomed Marijne back into his studio arms
They revamped the 4 afore mentioned tracks, and they seemed to have stood the test of time. They picked up their winning writing formula and started producing new tracks. Mike picked up the services of Japanese Writer and Drummer E-da to accompany the band live and contribute to the writing process
The Artwork for their first CD, The Yellow Horse EP has been designed by Graphic Designer Nic Tuft. www.tuftweb.com
He found a nice car to promote their song 'My car is faster than yours' (not yet released), called the artwork he'd created 'Cowboy Racer' and the band promptly changed their name
The rest is in the future
