About Me

Impressions and music grow in the belly of a gypsy lifestyle, and cheap guitars and the 1980’s can leave scars on anyone’s interior. Songwriter Jeremy Serwer’s childhood was spent in Salt Lake City, Denver, Chicago, northern Wisconsin and inside the beltway of Washington, DC. It was in DC during the early 1990’s that Jeremy began writing his first songs. Two moves later he was playing bass in Wisconsin-based Lamp Shade Honey around the mid-west.After some formative years in Seattle and San Francisco, Portland provided many opportunities at the time for songwriters and smaller bands in 1999. Jeremy helped form a band called Moon Dogg and they were off playing 123 shows in nine months around the Northwest. Jeremy then focused on his other band, Rich Man’s Burden. The current lineup is long time bassist Andy Clapp, Jess Goodwin (drums) and Paul Tyo (guitar). Rich man’s Burden released the full-length album “Whispers” in October 2007. “Whispers” has received airplay inside and outside the US and received much praise from fans around the globe. Jeremy has continued his solo performances all along showcasing more intimate songs and different arrangements of band songs. In 2003 Jeremy formed neo-classical chamber pop band Thistle with pianist/songwriter Ali Ippolito and Cellist Anna Fritz. They recorded a 3 song EP entitled “Bitter Sweet Ballads from the Netherworld.” There were also nine months in Alt Country Operation “The Christine Young Band.” Additionally in 2003 Jeremy joined forces with Jenni and Amanda Price of Acoustic Minds in 2003 making this a very busy year. During this time he spent some time on the road hitting up shows in the Northeast, Midwest and West Coast in a solo format supporting a short run CD entitled “Redistributing the Wealth”.In the spring of 2005 Jeremy hit the road with Jenni and Amanda Price and guitarist Nathan Milton on a two-month national tour. The tour supported The Acoustic Minds debut release “Time” for which Jeremy contributed half the songs. Acoustic Minds is currently working on a third record which Jeremy has helped co-write and is being produced/engineered by Jim Brunberg at Mississippi Studios for an early spring release.Jeremy has also appeared on recordings with: Jenn Dashney, Purusa, The Christine Young Band, ..No. 3 Breakdown, Tony Smiley...Currently Jeremy is working on a solo effort, which he is recording/producing with Adara Blake and this will be his best material to date.
