All of us at ZeeDesign Productions are very proud to present MJ's premiere film clip for his newest tune, The Better Of Me. This song marks the point where MJ broke the writer's block of 6 years and finally unplugged the pipe of inspiration. Sure as can be, there have been many songwriters who have found themselves dry and parched of the juices of creation - this can be a hard time of suffering, but this song is testament to the fact that these periods can end.
The film clip itself contains footage from around Brisbane, MJ's now home-town and the song features some backing vox fromThe Sheriff (who performs the main vocal in "The Greatest Dancer").
We hope you enjoy the trip and the new sound from Minty Jones. Please show your support and leave him some comments, because without some criticism, how are we going to get any better? A HUGE shout out to the Brisbane and Glasgow music scenes which should both keep delivering some craaaaazy curved balls.
Minty Jones has played music from a very young age, and at 30 years old has matured into what he hopes is a certain style, although his wide scope of influences has rendered him helpless into becoming a definable quantity.
Crammed into a tiny house in Scotland and put to the piano for years on end he slowly carved a niche for himself and by the time another 20 years had passed he found himself at the end of a 10 year career being part of a well received quartet round and about the Glasgow area.
That time spanned a range of styles from being classically trained, to punk/grunge, through folky pop coming out at a funky instrumental rock. As you can see this band just couldn't settle the creative flow! Nevertheless, they had a loyal following back in the West of Scotland and enjoyed lives as bards.
Good times came to an end, and after a general burn out, Minty left the band and the country in a bid for freedom and found it in Australia. With a few more random appearances around the globe since that time, he developed a strong affection for jazz and studied it's quirks over the next few years.
Nowadays the music leaks out of him in his little home studio with his family and just wishes he had more time and resources to do what he loves doing the most...adding to the soundtrack of life :)
The Australian sun beats mercilessly upon his brow. The sweat blood and tears have become part of him - a barely definable crust. The dust eddies around his feet as he shuffles on, music, distant snatches, in the dry wind. A smile caresses his lips as he remembers a forgotten melody from an age old song.
There will always be harmony", he thought to himself...
