I'm working with a couple of different ideas at the moment. Writing music with my drummer father and his cousin Tim on bass has been great. The core of us put the songs together and from there we plan to add different musicians and get as many different sounds as possible. The current album concept is based in Funk and I'd like to go out and perform it asap and get people up off their asses and dancing. Keep the energy level high, for myself, because that's how I have fun on stage, and for the people in the crowd to let loose. I'm a big James Brown fan, so his style has definitely influenced me. Deep Funk is just the beginning. With some guitar and horns, that song is gonna start kicking ass. After that I got a number I wrote about my sister and her passion to dance. Following that is another melody that was part of the original Deep Funk that I'll turn into another up beat tune. For a long time I would write depressing music, or music about how the rich can be overbearingly corrupt (like this new National ID card they want in place by 2008), but performing those songs wasn't exciting. It was depressing. Unless I put a good deal of drugs or alcohol in my system, why would I be that depressed to want to play those songs? Granted, they are a history of my thoughts and feelings, but they have their place, and right now it's time to make it funky! I've been staying home a lot because Lynn and I are going to have a baby, so I'm picking up all the house work, cooking, and helping Dale Jr. with his school work. Anything I can do so that she is free to rest. I love my family, and although I haven't had much work, it's good to be home :)
