Music:
An odd mix of stuff.... Greg Brown, Prince (especially old but also some new), Ani Difranco, Shonen Knife, Alison Kraus, and late 1980s hair bands. I know it when I see it.
Movies:
My favorite movies are.... American Beauty, Grease, Purple Rain, Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer (1970s claymation), Nightmare Before Christmas, Lady and the Tramp, Little Shop of Horrors (with Rick Moranis), Sirens, Like Water for Chocolate. As for recents things, I liked Shopgirl, Broken Flowers, Squid and the Whale, Transamerica, and a bunch of documentaries this year. I especially like to see the academy award nominated animated shorts each year. And I'll happily go to watch any brainless chick-flick romantic comedy if you buy me popcorn and a brownie.
Television:
Simpsons, South Park, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, What Not to Wear, Miami Ink, Oprah (yes, Oprah), Grey's Anatomy. It sounds bad, but I really don't watch much TV, or I happen to have it on when doing other stuff like sewing. Oh -- PROJECT RUNWAY! The best show on television.
Books:
Hmmmm......The Color Purple, Anne of Green Gables, Clockwork Orange, all Steinbeck but especially Travels with Charley and Grapes of Wrath, Joy Luck Club, Frederick's Fables, lots of children's books. And what the hell, bondage erotica! ;-)
