About Me

Hi there! I'm a bassist, saxophonist, singer and homebrewer. If I'm not playing music, I'm brewing beer. If I'm not doing either of the aforementioned activities, I'm enjoying the fruits of my labor...

My Interests

Well, music and zymurgy. If that's not enough, then more of the same! Does that mean I have a 2-track mind? I have a thirst for learning of all kinds. Spent the last several years learning Greek, so I guess that would count as an interest. Since my mom didn't come to live in Greece with me, I've learned how to cook (very well, so they tell me), so I guess that would count as one too... What else? I have an interest in anything interesting...

I'd like to meet:

An alien.

Music:

Yup. That's one of my interests. I started playing sax in 1974 and went on to get a BA in Music from CSULB, which is where I met my buddy Toddman5150 way back when, and have been playing ever since - Jazz, Rock, Thrash, Metal. Mostly Rock, I guess. Toddman5150 was one of my inspirations to start playing guitar, which I basically sucked at, but a bass is only 2/3 of a guitar, so it was easier. I guess I can blame Toddman5150 for starting me on the way to highly amplified electric instruments. As far as groups I like: Dickens' Zoo, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Rush, Socrates, Tsopana Rave, Van Halen (NOT Van Hagar, for one thing, The Red Rocker is a solo act, and for another, nobody can replace Diamond Dave - who, in my opinion, is eh... almost OK as a solo act), old Slayer, old Metallica, The Beatles, The Stones, Carcass, old Obituary, old Sepultura, old Megadeth... I keep saying "old"... I guess I like Classic Rock and Classic Metal... Anyway, there'll always be a soft spot in my heart for Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Mussorgsky, Stravinsky, and Schoenberg, too. Is that enough? How about Charlie Parker, Warne Marsh, Arlan Ascher, and Gary Foster (all KILLER saxmen in the bebop vein).

Movies:

Yeesh! The last time I bothered to see a movie in a theater, you were probably wearing diapers. If you haven't seen "The Producers" (Gene Wilder, Zero Mostel), SEE IT! Other faves: High Plains Drifter, A Clockwork Orange. With those three, my collection is complete.

Television:

It's the box I watch cartoons on. Unfortunately, "Beavis and Butthead" and "Gumby" aren't on anymore, but "Spongebob Squarepants" is pretty cool and especially interesting dubbed in Greek.

Books:

Ahhh... Uh huh huh... If I wanted to read, I'd go to school...

Heroes:

I think the only person that could kick Chuck Norris' ass is Robert deNiro, and that's ONLY if he dry-gulched him. My other current heroes are Geddy Lee and Paul McCartney.
