Tycotic has been involved in countless releases, Ep’s and mixtapes, playing loads of live shows with different crews, bands and mainly as a solo artist. 2008 is looking to be huge with the completion of his newest full length album ‘CONVERSATION DOMINATION’.
In 1995 Tycotic (Age 9) wrote, produced and performed his first hip hop track, by age 10 he was playing guitar and forming a band (Alyxr) with his brother (Smokey Desperado) on drums and Ty on lead guitar/ lead vocals. Alyxr eventually recorded a demo in a renowned Sydney studio accompanied by manager Nic Luntungan.
After splitting with his band around 2001 (Age 15) Ty began writing solo hip hop material, producing beats and performing amateur home recordings. By 2004 he was recording his demo ‘Daily room recitals’ in a Mt. Druitt home studio. Ty was not happy with the recordings so he set out to re-record a number of tracks to feature on his first full length release ‘Create to destroy’ (2005). All recordings were performed by Tycotic in his home studio.
After create to destroy he formed a crew with fellow MC’s Dirt-E-Kent & K-Deezo, The dirt squadron was born and recording their first EP ‘A taste of filth’ (2005). Later that year a separate crew was also formed, The azyodiks consisted of Tycotic, Smokey Desperado, Dirt-E-Kent & Wimes and released an EP ‘The sampler’ (2005).
In 2005 Tycotic began working on a new project ‘The people vs Tycotic’ featuring the dopest of hip hop talent including: Torcha, Phrase, Xrsize, Spit syndicate, Nick knowledge among many others and was released in 2006. Since then Ty has dropped ‘The all nighter mixtape vol.1’ (2007), The all nighter mixtape vol.2 (2007), while performing as the Executive producer for Xrsize’s 2008 release ‘Lyrikally fit’.
In 2006 (Age 20) Tycotic created ‘Asylum fifty seven’ which is now home to other artists such as: Xrsize, Prem, Fowl Mouth, Rorks Drift, Shan One, Dirt-E-Kent, Wimes, Smokey Desperado, K-Deezo and more. Most recordings, mixing and production for these artists is performed by Tycotic at Asylum fifty seven studios (Umina Beach).
Tycotic has performed live as the headline act for a number of club shows, while rocking festivals and tours including: Bliss n Eso (Get loose tour), Bring it on festival 08, Wild west II, The jump off, Rhyme intervention 3, Joel Turner, King of the castle, Uminafied 07 & 08 among many others. For a brief period of time (late 2007) Tycotic performed live alongside Nick Knowledge to launch Nick’s album ‘The identity crisis’ at a number of live venues.
Fast growing reputation in the hip hop scene is signs this artist is sure to soon be at the forefront of Australian hip hop. Tycotic’s vocal delivery, lyrics and writing structures are just a couple of his musical strengths ensuring him a spot at the top of his genre. Later this year he will go on the road for the ‘Conversation domination tour’ which is looking to be a massive event, while also locking in some solid support shows and tours. 2008 is sure to be the biggest year yet.
