Lisa Lopez was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. From a young age she was formally trained in many of the creative arts including, but not limited to, voice and dance. After College at ASU her creative focus shifted from dance to make-up and photography. Through relationships which were nurtured while dancing for various artists ranging from Madonna to Dr. Dre to Sisquo, Lisa embarked on a career as a professional make-up artist. During the course of seven years, the once amateur hobby of photography began to prove as an integral form of expression for her. As a manager for MAC cosmetics for five years, Lisa has worked in television on “The View”, on a documentary with Daryll Hannah, with Andie MacDowell and on many other television and cinematic projects. Over the last four years, photography has become the focus, and make-up has been a convenient fuel to help her achieve her creative goals. Her accomplishments include featured artist title in over six local New York City exhibits and a client list of political, corporate and fashion industry individuals. Lisa’s photography is a vital creative component of Pomp Agency’s marketing programs. Her work is incorporated in product catalogs, website design, logo design and event production. Cairo in my mind; as well as millions of others was really the only place I truly wanted to see before I die. With out a doubt there are so many places worth seeing but seeing the pyramids has always been a dream for me. We were traveling from Eilat, Israel to the boarder of Egypt. Once we arrived we had to show our visa (you know all of that great, fun, annoying, uncomfortable shit, especially coming from Israel into an Arab country.) We went through the border and waited for our driver that was going to drive us 5 hours through the Sinai Dessert. He approached us with four other gentlemen with one of whom carried an automatic m16. (? looked like) He was about 6’4” dressed in a nice suit and wore his machine under the lapel of his suit jacket. They threw our entire luggage onto the top of our small mini van and off we went. It was a great experience traveling through the dessert for miles the only vision in front of you was sand with small barracks popping out now and again. We stopped to use the restroom at a small restaurant with a skinned goat hanging on a cord; with the sound of eager flies buzzing to the right of the entrance way. Mind you it was around 118 degrees outside. I really had to use the restroom so my feet found there way to the back into a room where they had several holes in the floor with hoses behind them so you could get a good washing. Oh yeah, evidently they didn’t understand the need for toilet paper. So I had of course brought my own. I loved the experience of that little place it made me feel lucky for the things I have in my LIFE. So off we went on our journey to Cairo. We arrived at a great time. We were so happy to be there. The city was very old, congested and filled with poverty. Everywhere you turned you would see Mosques. It was a very still day; a touch of tension filled the air. We pulled up to our hotel to find tourist police lingering in front of the two richly dressed entry way to our hotel. We went inside to check in. While going back outside to get to our luggage the police were arguing with our tour guide that we didn’t have enough paper work. They wanted to know why we were there, where we were going, and why didn’t we come in a big group like most tourists. Of course they were speaking in Arabic so it sounded like a small war. I became very nervous so my guide just said to grab our bags and proceed to our rooms. And we did. We showered came down stairs to meet our tour guide for the evening to take us to the pyramid light show in Giza. To my surprise the armed guy in the suit was still there in the lobby. We asked him why he had to stay and he replied our tour guide no good. He no good. He trouble. So this brought me to believe that our nice tour guide got put in jail on our behalf. I started to panic and a second later began to cry in worry that something was going to happen to us. He barley spoke a word of English so what he really meant was our tour guide didn’t have all the papers with him for us which forced the poor undercover police officer to stay the night with us. My stomach began to feel very uneasy as if I had been drinking sour milk. The night went on. We arrived at the light show. The confusion at the hotel brought us to the light show a bit late. The show had already in progress. We were escorted to our seats by a server and were asked if we would care for any beverages and of course we all replied with an alcoholic beverage in mind. The first sight of the pyramids was breathtaking. The show was very cool we took as many pictures as my camera would allow. It was very tough shooting in the dark but the pictures came out pretty well. I was so excited for the following day to come because I was going to be able to see the great pyramids in the light. The show was over within an hour. We made our way back to our hotel. We had thought earlier in the week that we would go out every night but as of this point we said to ourselves not a f**king chance in hell were we wandering at night in the crazy streets of Cairo. Cairo is a very congested city. You think New York has heavy traffic? Well imagine being somewhere that doesn’t even have lines on the highway and 100’s of cars going from one place to the other as fast as they can. There were people trying to cross the street in the middle of it all. They didn’t even bother to look; they just darted down in front of cars. It was crazy. So we made it back to the hotel in one peace. Retired in our rooms and decided to go to sleep because or early morning agenda. We arose at around 7:00 a.m. picked up our tour guide and headed out to the pyramids as early as possible. The first 150 people there are able to go into the pyramid of Giza. We were one of the first few. The Great Pyramid is the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World still standing. It is one of the oldest structures on the face of the earth and arguably the best built. It also lies in the exact center of all the land area of the world, dividing the earth's land mass into approximately equal quarters. So if you could only imagine what it felt like standing infront of it. We went into a door and crawled up a tunnel into The King’s Chamber, made out of granite, measures about 34 feet by 17 feet and is about 19 feet high. The only item ever found in pyramid is the coffer in the King's Chamber. It is a lidless box cut from a solid block of granite. I actually sang a song while I was in there because my voice echoed of the walls. I wish I could show you pictures but we were not allowed to bring our cameras once we got inside. After going into the pyramids we found a guy that rented camels. Back in the day there were no camels the only road on horse back. We went through the desert. It was beautiful sight. We had such an amazing time. I only pray for peace in the middle east so everyone can visit this amazing splendor. This is me whipping up a meal in the mansion!! Those were great times!!
