Info on Weight of the Word - A 48 Hour Film Project
Friday, June 23rd, me and 62 other teams of filmmakers met at the Cat & The Fiddle, drew our genres, got our required elements (character name - Cpt. Chris(tina) Murray, prop - rope, line of dialog "Let's just say, mission accomplished). The assignment? Write, shoot, edit and complete a film in just 48 hours. The result was "Weight of the Word", a satirical political drama featuring my usual repertory of actors/crew from both "Cinderella" and The Ark Theatre Company - Chairman Barnes, Lindsay Wray, Erik Engman, Monica Hafer, Peter Ross Stephens, Tricia Pierce, Zadra Ibanez, Paula Lampshire and my faithful DP, Beth Wallan. And a big thanks to The Mockers for the use of their killer song, "The Emperor Strikes Out". It's perfect! Check them out! Stay tuned for screening/festival updates.

Once upon a time...
That's how all of this got started. Susan Lee and her sister, Cindy, began exchanging their views on fairy tales and myths that girls are raised with as they both watched their marriages crumble. Out of this discussion came"Cinderella Drives A Pick-Up," first an unpublished book that the two sisters created, featuring chapters like Snow White and the Seven Emotionally Challenged Dwarfs and Rapunzel, Rapunzel, Who Does Your Hair? This book became the basis for the screenplay, "Cinderella Drives A Pick-Up", a digital feature film which began principal photography on April 7, 2006, written, produced and directed by Susan Lee, in conjunction with the critically-acclaimed Ark Theatre Company in Los Angeles. Co-producers are Chairman Barnes and Paul Wagar.
SYNOPSIS
JESSIE ANDREWS is a woman who knows what she wants but she just can't seem to escape the quagmire of the expectations of the myths and fairy tales thrust upon her as an unsuspecting little girl.
Jessie doesn't necessarily want to find Prince Charming. She thought she had him at one time but he turned out to be just a knight in rusting armor. Her older sister, SAMANTHA KURLAND, however, has turned frog-kissing into an art and her past is littered with a variety of unprincely frog corpses.
The two sisters tread the waters of relationships with not only the myriad of men and other mythical creatures in their lives but also try to find their way down the path to a relationship with each other.
