Mad Ice

The Finland based Afrogroove artist Mad Ice is not only one of the most beloved and wanted musicians in East Africa but also a known and appreciated performer at major music festivals all over Europe.
Mad Ice started his career way back in 1998 by performing ragamuffin in various talent shows. Whilst earning a living singing cover music in hotels, he started composing his own songs. “2002 came with a different feeling, all I wanted was to have my own composition out. My dream came true when we released my first song to radio stations and it made an impact”. “Wanadamu” paved the way for a successful career.
With his major hitsongs such as ”Baby Gal”, and "Wange" Mad Ice has stayed on top of the charts in East Africa months on end and has released two albums also in Europe 2005 (Mad Ice) and 2007 (Maneno) introducing to the world Mad Ice and his music. Mad Ice can now be found on several European playlists in France, Germany, Poland, Austria, US etc. (Wange featured 5 on top30 Chart Nov2007 on Radio Laser France) and his video of the Afrogroove Single "Malaika" became highly appreciated on different Music Tv Charts in South and Eastern Africa (Channel O Countdown - South Africa, MTVBase Africa, Channel 5 - East Africa among others).
Mad Ice and his finnish band are performing regulary all over the world and has entertained with his shows at Major European Music Festivals such as EtnoSoi, Faces, Ilosaarirock and Popkatu, Maailma Kylässä and the Urban Festivals in Finland, as well as at B-Connected in Amsterdam, Carelian Faces in Russia and Bosna Faces in Bosnia Herzegovina among others.
Mad Ice´s third album release – ”Maneno” (engl. “Words”) is revealing a softer, more laidback style with amazingly beautiful melodies and touching lyrics mixed with Afro Groove and Mediterranean sounds. It was released in July 2007, with its new single ”Nionyeshe Njia” sung in both, English and Swahili.
