About Me

JAH AYE was born in.. East Africa on the Equator under the slopes of Mount Kenya in Nanyuki, in Kikuyu and Massai Land, during the end of Mau Mau Revolution. I completed my schools and went to the United Kingdom in the early 70's. After a short visit to Germany, I lived in Münster NRW, Germany from 1979. There I worked and formed up my first reggae Band “Walata”, meaning the Talking Drum (from 1980-1984). Later as the years went by, I played with the following Bands: Children of Rain, The Newmeaning International (this band was formed to support the freedom of Nelson Mandela and to make people aware about Apartheid in South Africa). In 1992 my first single ‘Creation’ was released by Ababa Janhoy, Sunvibes Records and Haile Selassie I Research Committee on Celebration to the 100th Earthday of H.I.M. EMPEROR HAILE SELASSIE I. Followed by “Walata” Reunion for the Mozambique floods in 2000, Out of Darkness and Mackatree Posse until 2003. That was the time when I came to Austria. In 2007 I organized the 1st Spring Reggae Festival in Wels, Austria; a Tribute to Reggae Icons Bob Marley and Joseph 'Culture' Hill. Tomorrow is another day!
