I was born Johnny Allen Hendrix in Seattle, Washington. As a toddler and young boy I was known as Buster, a family nickname inspired by the early 20th century comic strip character Buster Brown. At age three, my father, after returning from military service during World War II, legally renamed me James Marshall Hendrix. As a school age boy and young adult, I was simply known as Jimmy or James. In my early career, I used the stage name Maurice James and later Jimmy James. I did not adopt the moniker Jimi until after my discovery in late 1966, although most writings refer to me as Jimi throughout the timeline of my life for purposes of consistency.Myspace Contact Tables
