In a deep recess...
Somewhere in between the click of the clock and flick of the remote...
Somewhere bottomless in behind Creation's couch pillows...
There was one magnificent equation.
To know it is to slip through the 3 AM static filled TV screen...
Into the background radiation...
...and chime the bell of the big bang.
Ed's Head is a concept album, but done in a more "underground/greasy kids stuff/bombastic/by the seat of one's pants/Chicago Indie" kind of way. Hence the "Graphic Audio Novel". In other words, like a thick, really detailed, well done, layered comic book - but classier! Mostly, because I worked in the word "novel".
What's it about? Aliens are contracted by the American Government to enslave the human race!! But WAIT!! The aliens have other plans in mind (quite literally)! Through a series of subliminal messages coded in pi-binary and transmitted through television, the aliens double cross all branches of government and prepare to set humanity free. (Now THAT'S tax dollars at work.)
Holy Pete Townshend on a crack bender, Batman! How will they achieve their souped-up subliminal swindle?!
Well, I'm glad you asked!
This is to be achieved via a sort of super-powered-sleep-Zen-solution (completely beyond our understanding) that will activate hidden technology (dating back to the arrival of the very first stars) buried deep in the cerebral cortex of the human brain.
This album is what happens over the course of one night in the dreams of one particular test subject: EDM-N4221.631-W885.462 as the powers that would be refer to him. But that's a bit lengthy. Let's call him "Ed" for short.
