Yes, there is music on this page, but it’s NOT WHITE LIGHTNING’S MUSIC. That’s just what I’ve recorded on my own with my trusty guitar, computer and my Realistic Highball 2 microphone (although for a select few of ’em I had a nice PA and an Audio-Technica ST90; much better sound quality). To hear White Lightning’s music, refer to my top ’friends’ list. Our page is right there. This is kind of a page where I just put down ideas I came up with and recorded, as well as where I show extreme fan-ness of bands I listen to, as I usually have at least two covers up here, as well. I’ve done about an equal amount of covers and originals, actually.
I used to tend quite a bit towards the strange, experimental and sometimes slightly post-punk and expressionist side, but ever since I joined White Lightning in 2005, my passion for heavy metal began showing up more and more in my personal music. Still, my original influence from artists/bands such as Alice Cooper, The Birthday Party, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Fear and Megadeth among others still remains in much of my work. I love heavy metal, and the old-fashioned in particular, but I also draw quite a bit from jazz, old progressive rock, baroque and romantic-era music, as well.
As mentioned above, I record all of this on my own, using cheap equipment and my computer’s synthesiser, relying mostly on my humble knowledge of microphone placement, acoustics and mastering to achieve a halfway-decent sound. I’m studying recording technology at PCC and just about to begin the last term in the course. I’m pretty stoked.
