ALIAS' DEAL WITH THE DEVIL OPTIONED
Alias Entertainment has thrown its hat into the Hollywood ring with the announcement of its first optioned property, Mike S. Millers Deal With the Devil, illustrated by Sherwin Schwartzrock.
Optioned by producer David (Bite Club) Tischman (whos also an executive producer on Damn Nation at MTV films, based on Andrew Cosbys Dark Horse Comics miniseries, the comics story follows Anthony Goodwin, one of the best manhunters in the history of the FBI.
In his final case, his prey, Kevin Runyan, became his hunter, and his career took a turn for the worse as he was critically injured and the suspect vanished without a trace. But four years later, his nemesis returns to ask for his help, and the former detective is forced to make a choice: to help the man stop a dangerous copycat killer or to avenge the wrongs committed in the past.
"The relationship between detective Anthony Goodwin and serial killer Kevin Runyan is a fantastic twist on the buddy/action film," Tischman said in a release. "I read the first issue and I knew Deal With the Devil had everything it needed to be a great movie."
I always imagined this story as a film, Miller said in a release, but I realized that it made more sense to translate the story into the comic book medium since thats where I have the most experience. Fortunately, it turned out quite well, and the book has developed a loyal fanbase during its run as a black-and-white comic in the back of a magazine and a stand-alone full-color book from Alias Comics.
I couldn't be happier with the direction David is taking Deal With the Devil, Miller continued. Its such a thrill to have a producer take the time and energy to turn your comic book into a movie treatment, and I cant wait to see it move through the various stages of development needed to get to the final cut.
The publisher has announced a trade paperback edition of the miniseries will be released this fall for $14.99, and will include a six page prologue in addition to the five issues of the original series.
