Authentic artists welcome!

About Me

A few details about Guy-Michael Grande's EAR CANDY from the columnist himself:
Featured online at MySpace and on-land in The Chronicle, EAR CANDY is a music column written by a musician for musicians and music lovers everywhere.
In print, our U.S.-based monthly paper reaches 50,000+ readers in Connecticut's shoreline communities and Greater Hartford (a major U.S. radio and media market). While The Chronicle's main edition serves the Middletown community -- home to Wesleyan University and a favorite locale for some of Hollywood's elite when on the East Coast -- our coverage spans from Northampton to New York City and all points in between, wherever great music is being made.
Online at MySpace -- at long last! -- EAR CANDY is dedicated to featuring authentic artists and the fans who love their music, from the world's furthest flung corners right to the band you know next door.
With an emphasis on great new music, EAR CANDY is aimed at helping to advance artists, incorporating CD and concert reviews as much as possible. Mixing international, regional and locally known music makers, emergent and established artists are being featured side-by-side, especially where new releases and tours are concerned.
As both an artist and artist advocate, I encourage all artists, agents, managers, publicists and promoters to contact me for future coverage consideration.
Your humble wordsmith,
GMG
a few notes about the songs on this page
At first blush, I had no intention of featuring my songs on this page, since I already have a personal music page here. But since this page is devoted to music and writing, to memorable songs and the artists who create and perform them, sharing a few more of my own with you seems only fitting.
So for the first time ever, here are two preview mixes from my upcoming record, along with two live performances from the road so far:
All About Grace is about the little girl who completely captured my heart when she let me into her sweet world not long ago. Recorded live in one take at Freaktown Heights and soon-to-be featured on my new CD.
Wasn't Love pretty much speaks for itself... also recorded live in one take at Freaktown Heights and soon-to-be featured on my new CD.
So Much Of What I Wanted was recorded live at Cheney Hall in Manchester, Connecticut, on the night I opened for one of my deepest musical influences, Freedy Johnston. Recorded by Mario Vicenzo of Vector Arts & Media, this take always brings me right back to that amazing audience and unforgettable night.
Melinda was recorded live at the legendary Club Passim in Cambridge, Massachusetts not long after I'd written it. Serendipitiously, the woman who inspired the song was in our audience -- where I'd travelled two hours from Hartford to perform one song on this Monday night in June -- and we had a packed house full of artists and listeners. Listen closely, and you'll hear the audience start singing along with the choruses, just over the clinking glasses and silverware! Recorded by Steve Friedman of Melville Park Studios, it's a favorite live take of mine.
As a solo acoustic performer, my songs don't get any more authentic than this: just my voice and guitar. I love making records and working with gifted musicians, but performing live is what I do more than anything else these days. So along with the words written here, I hope you enjoy the songs!
