About Me

Hello, my name is Nick. I am a filmmaker, and I own a film production company called Fright Flix Productions, Inc. I have written, produced, and directed 3 films (so far) "Nutbag", Sinister", and "Murder-Set-Pieces". I am known in the movie industry for my controversial, ultra-violent films, but in real life I'm an easy going, fun loving guy. People seem to have a hard time separating the artist from his art. Sometimes you have to keep repeating..."It's only a movie...only a movie..." I enjoy art, traveling, meeting new people, music, muscle cars, reading, having fun, and beautiful girls. My favorite film of all time is Charles Laughton's "The Night of the Hunter" (1955). My favorite horror filmmaker is the legendary Dario Argento. I also love Film Noir, Spaghetti Westerns, German Expressionist films, Sam Peckinpah films, the Coen Brothers films, Atom Egoyan films.

I was born in Washington, D.C. in 1970. I have been obsessed with film since catching "The Wizard of Oz" on T.V in 1974. I immediately identified with the Wicked Witch, and ever since then I have become a film fanatic. In 1977, my father introduced me to filmmakers Stanley Kubrick, Roman Polanski and Werner Herzog via a revival house movie theater. Even at 7 years old I was spellbound. I knew then what I wanted to do with my life. I attended film school in Los Angeles from 1989-1991. After learning the technical aspects of filmmaking, I worked on several low-budget features to gain knowledge and experience. In 2000, I wrote, produced, and directed my first feature film "Nutbag". My extremely controversial horror debut put me at the forefront of independent filmmakers. Dividing my time between Las Vegas, New York City and Los Angeles, I continued to work on productions and write original screenplays. In 2002, I followed with the 4-minute 35mm short film "Sinister". In 2004, I wrote, produced, and directed my next 35mm feature film, the shocking "Murder-Set-Pieces". With "M-S-P", I have taken the horror genre to the next level. "M-S-P" had a limited theatrical run in 2005. The film was the first Un-rated American horror/slasher film to hit theatres in 25 years! Lauded by critics from around the world as "a masterpiece of horror", "Murder-Set-Pieces" is the most expensive and controversial independent horror film ever made. My new film is called "FRIGID"...a shot on 35mm survivalist/horror film photographed on location in Eastern Europe. "FRIGID" tells the story of a group of beautiful young girls on holiday across Europe who encounter unimaginable horrors.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

The visionary director, writer and producer who created one of the most notorious theatrical feature horror cult films of all time; "MURDER-SET-PIECES" , shot on location in Las Vegas on 35mm film and released by Lionsgate Films in the continental U.S. (in an “R” cut) and by Universal Studios (Uncut) in Europe.

Palumbo has been obsessed with cinema since his early childhood when his father began taking him to revival house movie theatres. He later attended film school in Los Angeles.

In 2000, Palumbo became a force in independent film when he wrote, produced and directed his first feature, "NUTBAG" . In 2002, he followed up with the award winning 35mm short film "SINISTER" shot on location in New York City.

In 2004, Palumbo wrote, produced and directed the inimitable "MURDER-SET-PIECES" , which had a theatrical run in 2005. Screened for its World Premiere at the prestigious Sitges International Film Festival in Barcelona, Spain, "M-S-P" was the first Un-rated American horror film to hit theaters in 20 years.

On February 28th, 2008 "M-S-P" was featured on the cover of Variety and The Hollywood Reporter as a result of the controversy the film has raised in Europe. To date, the U.K., Ireland, and Norway have officially banned "MURDER-SET-PIECES" .

Palumbo may be known in the film industry for his confrontational films, but in real life he’s an easy going, fun loving guy. His favorite film of all time is Charles Laughton’s "The Night of the Hunter" (1955). He lists directors Stanley Kubrick and Roman Polanski as his biggest influences.

Palumbo's working on a new feature film (a neo-noir thriller) and a new documentary on the late actress Sharon Tate.

Nick Palumbo currently resides in Los Angeles.
