HIERARCHY RECORDS (The HR) was founded by Christopher "Catalyst" Ramos (CEO) in 2002 along with the business mind of Eric "EZ" Burnheart. Interested in creating an ARTIST FRIENDLY and profitable label, Catalyst set out to REVOLUTIONIZE the music and rap industry in terms of artist contracts, CREATIVE FREEDOM, and QUALITY of music. In the next year he met one of the solid FOUNDATION within the HR, Ivory. Together, Ivory and Catalyst immediately started working towards the release of a concept album called "The Rise The Fall", a full length story album depicting a well rounded man and his crew who quickly grew in the drug game and fell just as fast. This album was abandoned due to decisions made by the label. However, it was a time of GROWTH and DEVELOPMENT within the HR and new members were added. Unfortunately, these members did not have the DEDICATION necessary to help run a SUCCESSFUL label and were soon dropped. In the years to come a few SOLID MEMBERS were picked up. These guys were both long time FRIENDS of Ivory's and SOLID RAPPERS/SONGWRITERS in their own right. OMIZZY and YOUNG CRICKET were an inevitable addition to the HR FAMILY. As time passed songs were written and recorded at such a fast pace. Ideas were abundant and eventually the HR attained their OWN STUDIO, "THE CRACK ATTIC", which is now Catalyst Studios. It was here that most of their debut album was conceptualized and recorded. With a few new additions: Young M, 187, and Ill Will the HR was ready to release their first OFFICIAL ALBUM. After the album was released, however, these three artists were never signed to the label. Although they still remain in contact with no hard feelings, these artists were not ready for a DEDICATED CAREER with the HR. "VISIONS OF AN EMPIRE" was released on October 29, 2006 and can still be purchased for $9.00 on the streets of the BURGH. The Hierarchy stands for the way in which we OPERATE. We have our top guys who issue ORDERS, conceptualize our next MOVES, work on our marketing PLANS, and look to our FUTURE. We also have our guys who follow ORDERS, get their JOBS DONE, and GRIND out the artist end of the spectrum. In other words, you must be a FOLLOWER before you can LEAD. We also operate as a FAMILY, it aint just business! We all have each others back, look out for one another, and go through UPS and DOWNS as a FAM. Musically, we are INNOVATIVE, all ORIGINAL, and self-SUFFICIENT. We dont rely on outside BEATS or engineering. All songs are 100% HR MATERIAL. Hip-hop is on a DECLINE quality-wise, and we intend on SWITCHIN IT UP from the norm!! HIP HOP heads get ya SETS up. We also represent PITTSBURGH (THA 412--STEEL CITY BABY) to the fullest and plan on putting it on the MUSICAL map in the next few years (PGH STAND UP).
