The Nonspecific Corporation

Excellence in mediocrity.

About Me

The Nonspecific Corporation has been around since 1993, they are a collective that make music, film, performance art, and photography. In 1994 they completed the short film Walking Arthur Limpchicken. The score to the film was full of minimalism and bits or early classical works. The Roachcow Manifesto, a double album was released in 1997 on their ultra independent label (that's a polite way of saying produced in the attic) The music was a schizophrenic mix of many different styles of mostly instrumental music, ranging from new age to rock & Roll, and also featured a cover of Pink Floydss Comfortably Numb The album overall was rather eccentrics and set the tone for much of what was to come.1998 saw the release of The Mysterious Journey Of The Enigmatic Orb, an album of atmospheric synthesizer music. In 1999 the band turned its attentions toward electronica with Dance! You Simple Bastards, an album of mocking (rip offs) of popular styles of club music. 2000 saw a return to the spacey sounds with Flight Of The Dolphins, which featured extended suits of textural synthesizers.2001 was a return to form with Synaesthesia an eclectic concept album. The music was quirky and featured many songs with anecdotal stories about strange characters. One such track The Gretner Tape about a bizarre figure from their home town would play an important role in the next few years for the group. In 2003 they set out on making a musical about the life of Sony Gertner, unfortunately members of his family were not to pleased to have their family immortalized in such a way. In 2004 the half completed project was scraped. The Nonspecific Corporation seemed to go underground in the middle of the decade but the truth is that the were working in so meany directions at once, projects were stacking up. In 2006 an old friend, Mr. Canhead came back into their lives and asked if they would help him make an album. This new project, which became the album "Take Off Your Pants And Dance", became a great struggle and strained the relationship between The Nonspecific Corporation and Mr. Canhead. The album is as of June 07' still incomplete, almost a full year after the project was begun. But we still hold out hope. Finally in 2007 they have produced two new albums (and the year is only half over) "Anthropology" an aural doumentary, featuring candid conversations, interviews and general tomfoolery. In late June Cinematic, an album of synthesizer music became available.February 2008 brought a three track album of yet more synthesizer music called "Gas Giants" pretty bitchin stuff. We're available on iTunes!I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.1
