"You can tell just by the Courtney Love-ish scrawling on the cover of ZOO AND THE SELF INFLICTED LOVEBITES FROM HELL's CD exactly what era they draw their inspiration from. Their first track is called Nevermind, for gawd's sake, and there's a Daniel Johnston cover. Now, we liked nirvana too, but steady on. As you might expect they sound bit like Mudhoney or even Violent Femmes with a dash of Britpop jauntiness. It's all a bit scrappy, and there's too much straining of the voice. 'Little Big Choke' sounds exactly like the kind of thing I was listening to local bands playing in village halls when I was 12. Did Kurt die for this? No, he died because he shot himself in the head, silly."EMILY MACKAY - Stool Pigeon No. 10. February 2007 -
