'Fuck us! Six York kids (Who look no older than 18), Who sound like a cross between Yngwie Malmsteen, Dragonforce and Iron Maiden. From a pounding instrumental Power Metal (Metal being the operative word) to slower epics that sound like 'One' era Metallica. The voice is perfectly in tune, The songs aren't predictable, and the guitar-work is second to no fucker! In fact the prodigious sextet's demo is so mature and profesional it's almost unbelievable they're still unsigned. If these guys have a half decent live show, they'll be on mainstage before they're old enough to hire their own van, 9/10' - Demo of the Month.
James Gill, Metal Hammer Magazine (March 2007)
'..While trying to capture its essence, I’ve listened to “Screams from the Asylum†several times, and I must say it’s energetic, infectious and I imagine they would great fun to watch live. There’s enough good raw material here to suggest that Evelyn have the potential to make a big impression on both metal and non metal audiences. Good luck to them.'
- Andrew Docherty, Metal Team UK
..'Evelyn with their dramatic show, were easily the most powerful performance of the night. Again, this is not a style I would usually listen to but with such an incredible show I could understand why the crowd looked on in amazement'
- Emma Jackson reporting on the Best of the Bands 2006
'Keep your eyes and ears open folks cause these guys will blow you away.'

After 9 months of writing rehearsing gigging and especially raising the money; the first full length Evelyn CD 'Screams from the Asylum' is unleashed on January 26th 2007.
All 10 tracks were recorded, mixed and mastered in less than five days by Lee Hutchinson at Cube Media, York in an attempt to capture their stunning live sound; this is something you must hear. Unafraid to have 9 minute tracks, 3 minute guitar solos and an array of screaming and harmonic vocals, these lads have produced the sort of record that nobody does anymore.
The CD as a whole moves in waves from the rabble-rousing opener 'Atheist's Nightmare' through the nine minutes of fast riffs, screams, war and outstanding solos from Joe Graves and Spider in 'Call to Arms'. The band's melodic side begins to creep in through 'Seasons of Death' and fan favourite 'Someone I'm Not' only the murderous screams come suddenly crashing through with self-titled masterpiece 'Evelyn (Go to Hell)' and early number 'A Day Down in Heaven'. By this point, it's surprising they have any energy left as they sneak in York City Council sponsored 'The Mirror' which you'll be hearing locally and hopefully nationally as part of the York Anti-Bullying campaign. But it doesn't stop here. With the theme of early material creeping back with 'Christine' and fast-paced 'Fool's Paradise', it shows these tracks will never loose their fire. All that remains is the delicate beauty of 'Blind' recalling the duelling lead guitars of the early Ash as a perfect finisher. This is not your usual three chords, one tempo, love-related noise barrage and shouting of your standard metal group but a CD of extraordinary contrasts.
Catch them live, but hear this CD, 'cause it does exactly what it says on the tin.
