I have a long and diverse career in entertainment, beginning in music at an early age, then attending law school and graduating Valedictorian. Afterwards I became an award-winning law professor (Remedies), popular author and lecturer ("Labor and Employment in California" / Lexis Nexis), and successful trial, entertainment and music attorney, ultimately pursuing a career as an entrepreneur in the internet, film, television, music, theater & media convergence. With my connections worldwide, I became a moving force in many projects and companies, including iiEntertainment, iirecords, Cinetrax and Eggman Productions, all of which I founded and financed. I've produced, executive-produced, or co-produced a host of wonderful projects, including "EPHRAIM'S SONG" (a NAACP award-winning theatrical directed by Mark Swinton and co-produced by myself, Bruce Willis, Cedric the Entertainer, and others), and "A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S RAVE" (directed by Gil Cates, Jr., son of Gil Cates, Sr., former Executive Producer of The Academy Awards and DGA President, and co-produced by myself together with my friend Peter Rafelson and others, Peter being a noted music producer and songwriter - he wrote Madonna's "OPEN YOUR HEART" - and is the son of Oscar-winning film director Bob Rafelson). I also am an active SCREENWRITER ("XMAS IN DA HOOD", "HOOPS", "CONFLICTED"), and MUSIC SUPERVISOR ("THE FLORIST", "THE BUTCHER", "SIP THE PLEASURE OF DAYS", "THE FLESHEATERS", "THE BARD: THE STORY OF ROBERT BURNS"). For a stint in the early 00's, I was President of Film, Television and Music at One Roof Entertainment (in Los Angeles), and also managed the acid rock band ANYONE. I'm currently producing (and music supervising) with veteran filmmaker Paul Aratow ("SHEENA, QUEEN OF THE JUNGLE") and ANYONE frontman Riz Story, the rock n' roll love story (written by Riz and mega-screenwriter Steven de Souza), "SIP THE PLEASURE OF DAYS". We seek to release this film together with the soundtrack by the same name. I'm also producing (and music supervising) a horror picture called "THE FLESHEATERS", which is the original fable on which the movie "THE HILLS HAVE EYES" was based. And I'm producing my passion project, "CONFLICTED", written by myself, a legal thriller in which a high-powered S.F. attorney is called upon to defend his own brother for the murder of his own law partner, with twists and turns reminescent of "MYSTIC RIVER" = "PRIMAL FEAR".
In January 2007, I joined VEGAS ROCKS! MAGAZINE, MEDIA & MUSIC, a Vegas-based rock n' roll company whose "starship" is VEGAS ROCKS MAGAZINE, a rock mag in the vein of a regional Rolling Stone -- described by many as the coolest and most influential regional rock magazine in the U.S. Though I started as Director of Marketing, I was recently elevated to President and COO, reporting to Sally Steele, our founder/Publisher/Editor-in-Chief/CEO, and I now handle the operational duties of Vegas Rocks! In 2007 we launched VEGAS ROCKS! MEDIA, which provides marketing, media support, live broadcasting, podcasting, and the like for rock n' roll projects, including VEGAS ROCKS! TELEVISON powered by HELLOWORLD (tune in at www.vegasrockstv.com). We also launched VEGAS ROCKS! MUSIC GROUP, including a personal management arm, to which we have signed Sally Steele and Lez Warner, the great former drummer of THE CULT. I personally represent both Sally and Lez, together with Lez's new project LEZ WARNER'S THE CULT, about the re-birth of original goth (music, fashion, etc.) Our Vegas Rocks 2008 initiatives include moving the media division into worldwide production and broadcasting of live events, international magazine distribution, and expansion into all forms of television and other media, including mobile content, ultimately making Vegas Rocks! a formidable force in the regional, national and world music & entertainment scenes. Towards this end, we have recently become affiliates of HELLOWORLD and VM Direct, through which we have launched the aforesaid VEGAS ROCKS TELEVISION (www.VegasRocksTV.com).
In my free time, I'm heading Talent Buying/Coordinating, Public Relations and Publicity for PARADIGM PRODUCTIONS in Las Vegas, which produces events for charities, including Veteran's Benefit "AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL" 2007, which offered 2 days and 20 hours of music, food, art & fun over Veteran's Day Weekend 11/10-11, and the upcoming 2008 ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARADE in Henderson, Nevada.
On the personal side, I love ice cream, dinner parties, lounging at the pool or beach, rock n' roll music, Paso Fino horses, and beautiful people (inside or out), and am currently writing a feature film about the elusive "fountain of youth", involving intersecting stories about Ponce de Leon and a young boy in the 1960's dieing of leukemia but who has not been told by his parents (a common practice at the time). I am also working with my lovely and beautiful daughter Briana to produce her first record DEMO in furtherance of her passion and love for all things music (she recently recorded Avril Lavigne's "Happy Ending", which you can hear at www.myspace.com/brianalovett). Not to mention, I am daily trying to perfect the perfect dish in the kitchen under the tutelage of my good friend and master chef Paul Aratow (occasionlly complemented with some fine wine!)...
