About Me

New Book is Brewed!
Six Ft. Swells has a new collection of poems to drink to: Cocktails & Confessions: A Collection of the Greatest Poetry Inspired by Lust & Libations. We had a very successful book release party reading at Jason's Studio Cafe in Grass Valley on May 12th. Ten of the poets featured in the collection showed up to read with drinks in hand. They did us proud!
Since our brand of poetry is all about the party--and everyone is always invited--we had a second-round of readings to celebrate the book at Luna's Cafe in Sacramento on June 21st. It was a grand celebration with many of the Sacramento-area poets who were featured in the book.
Look for more Six Ft. Swells After Hours Tours coming up!
MATT reads "Otis Live at the Whiskey":
TODD reads "Conversations with a Rejection Letter While Drinking Beer":
Julie reads "My Favorite Otis Redding Song"
SixFtSwells is a small press that makes its headquarters in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. It is a collective venture between celebrated After Hours poets, Todd Cirillo, Matt Amott and Julie Valin. It was conceived during a long night of cocktails and dollars in the jukebox.
Our goal is to provide a hip, alternative forum for poets young and seasoned, and to bring back the relevance of the small press. We believe in making poetry accessible to truckstops, bowling alleys, and seedy bar rooms everywhere. Our collective thought is that if a poet has to explain a poem, then they have not done their job.
Our first publication is Tonight, You're Coming Home With Us, released in Jan. 2006 from our Cheap Shots chapbook series, by Matt Amott and Todd Cirillo. It has garnered lots of praise, rowdy nights and free drinks for the poets.
Our 2nd chapbook is Night Songs for Heavy Dreamers by Six Ft. Swells' token girl, Julie Valin. It shows the softer side of late-night bar crawls, complete with full moons to make the room stop spinning.
Our newest release--Cocktails & Confessions--has been out 1 week and already the crowd is going wild, re-living those sultry, alcohol-induced neon nights that us poets pinpoint so poignantly. It will bring you to drink another. Here's to us.
TO ORDER:
Tonight You're Coming Home With Us - $6
Night Songs for Heavy Dreamers - $6
Cocktails & Confessions - $8
Subscriptions are $12 annually

Nothing like an Un-Event to kick off a new book.

So picture a pirate ship with a big kick-ass pirate flag flapping in the wind on some tropical sea. Picture pirates and gypsies on that ship, raising their beer bottles as the sun sets on said-tropica...
