The Fabulous Hofner BrothersWest Coast Soul-Blues RevivalThe Fabulous Hofner Brothers are a seven-piece band that has been exciting crowds throughout Northern California since 1992. Comprised of seasoned pro-level players backing the talented Meredith Nixon on lead vocals, the Hofners play tribute to the classic rock, blues and soul artists such as Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, Aretha Franklin, and James Brown as well as contemporary artists such as Bonnie Raitt, Johnny Lang and Susan Tedeschi.
The band has played hundreds of shows and has remained a perennial favorite at the Downtown Chico Business Association's summer 'Concert in the Park 'and 'A Taste of Chico' series. Early supporters of Chico's 'Midnight Blues Society', the band represented the MBS at the annual 'Blues At The Bridge' in Corning with Bay Area greats Johnny Nocturne and Brenda Boykin. Hofner harmonica miester 'Uptown' Bruce Rowen has led the band into several ‘Battle of the Harps' blowouts with the likes of Mark Hummell, Paul DeLay, and Norton Buffalo. The Hofners have shared stages with blues great such as Joe Louis Walker, Tommy Castro, CoCo Montoya, Tinsley Ellis and Little Charly and the Nitecats. Their wide-spread appeal had also brought them together with other 'non-blues' acts such as Maria Muldar, folk-icon Ritchie Havens, Pete Anderson of the Dwight Yoakum Band, and reggae superstar Joe HiggsIn 2007 the Hofners released their first official full length CD entitled ‘Welcome…The Fabulous Hofner Brothers’ recorded by Dale Price at Electric Canyon Studios. A cut from the CD was included in the Chico News and Review’s CD compilation ‘Chico III’.‘’The Downtown Chico Business Association (DCBA) has had the pleasure of working with The Fabulous Hofner Brothers at the Friday Night Concerts for the past 12 seasons.
