At only 21, Peter adds an element of youthful exuberance to the sound of Heval. Playing acoustic and electric guitars, he is also an aspiring producer and composer, offering both musical and technical skills to Heval. They have finally let him use distortion!
Dimitri Vouros
Began his musical training in clarinet 20 years ago, and studied piano and clarinet at the Conservatorium High School from which he graduated in 1990.
Followed this with study in classical performance and composition and Jazz studies at the NSW Conservatorium, graduating with an Associate Diploma in Jazz in 1993. Has also formally studied other wind instruments, particularly the Shakuhachi (Japanese bamboo flute), studying with Riley Lee for 4 years and the Bansuri (Hindustani bamboo flute) and Hindustani music, studying with Colin Berryman and Ashok Roy.
Has performed professionally since 1990, including the SBS Youth Orchestra and numerous jazz ensembles, notably recording with the Ed Hughes Quintet and the Micronesia Ensemble.
In Non-western classical modes, Dimitri has performed with the Odissi Dance (Indian) Company at the Sydney Town Hall and the NSW Art Gallery, and performed on the Shakuhachi in duets with Koto with Jim Frankland.
Jonathon Nanlohy
Jonathan has been grooving in the Sydney music scene for over 20 years, playing in numerous jazz, funk, rock and world music bands over the years. Jonathan hails from an family, with a renowned musician father while his mothe has received many awards for her artworks. While learning many fundamentals from his father, Jonathan has also studied the art of arrangement with Jazz composer, David Baker. Other studies included Jazz Fundamentals and Improvisation at the NSW Conservatorium of Music.
Jonathan can be heard across Australia's on the national JJJ radio station aswell as on Sydney's 2MBSFM performing with Kurdish artists in the Mesopotamian Band and with the percussion and dance ensemble band
Deniz Simsek
Performed on the on the saz (baglama), guitar, bass guitar and percussion for over 20 years. Completed 9 years of training at the Istanbul Technical Conservatorium / University, the first 4 years studying Kurdish and Turkish traditional music and instruments and the following 5 years concentrating on classical guitar, receiving a Diploma in guitar in 2000.
Performed and toured extensively both in Turkey and internationally, widely respected by Turkish musicians and consequently has accompanying many renowned Turkish performers and groups, such as Edip Akbayram and Musa Eroglu.
Since arrival in Australia as a refugee 2 years ago, Deniz has been in continual demand for Kurdish celebrations and to accompany visiting / touring performers.
Clinton Harn
Clinton Harn is a multifaceted 7th wonder of the world, with skills that cover all aspects of music. He has been playing drums with all of the top muso's Australia has to offer since completing his studies at the Conservatorium of Music in Adelaide, and has done all levels of performance, from Jazz/fusion trio gigs to large Stadium gigs and Television appearances with pop artists.
These days you can usually find him jamming it up with his other pet projects "The Myall High Club" and "Swivellhead", or simply twiddling the knobs on his new Universal Audio preamp at "Action Figure Studios", where he often produces/records/mixes/inspires young up and coming Sydney acts.
