Elephantine Records is a Boston based label that delivers only the finest in heavy music.
We are a fully independent record label run by people who play, respect and love the
music we release. We feel the best way to maintain our integrity is to treat the bands
involved with us the same way we want to be treated. That's why we release music,
book shows, and promote the music we really believe in.
In March 2006, we were sitting around talking about the possibilities of having our own
record label. It seemed like a far fetched idea and not something actually attainable.
However, that is the thinking mans fear. We however, said "let's do it, see what happens".
We figured the logical first step would be to release a compilation cd of heavy bands that
embody what we're all about. We were not interested in making some bullshit promo style
comp, but instead, a comp that harkens back to the days of "Where the Wild Things Are",
"This is Boston not L.A.", "East Coast Assault", etc... And from inception to completion, we feel like we've accomplished that with our first release in 2006,"ELEPHANTINE RECORDS VOLUME 1".
All who run this label not only play in but are part of the heavy music scene and have
been for years. And all are far too familiar with the trials and tribulations of making,
maintaining, and promoting their music. We've seen what labels can do to bands and how
it seems like the music becomes the least important thing. We're really only interested in
good music, good people and good times.
