Band Biography
Ever since school, guitarist Scott Martin and singer Gulliver Coleman had always wanted to form a band. Unable to play any instruments at that stage, the duo took two years out to learn their instrument of choice.
In 2006, Scott and Gully decided to get together with Scott's childhood friend Chris Cox and have a jam, with Scott and Chris on guitar and Gully on drums. After a few sessions, the three realised that they wanted to take things further. Three or four months down the line, Gully heard about a drummer and bassist who were looking for a band. After contacting Hamish and John, the prospective new band members, Gully stepped down from the role of drummer and took up lead vocals. Unfortunately, with Gully unable to fully commit at the time, the group eventually decided to take a hiatus.
Gully and Scott continued to make music together and, upon discovering that their school friend Robert Boddy had a hidden talent for producing the most brutal growls, their passion for making music was re-ignited. In March 2008, Beyond The Fallen Gates were formed. They wrote their first demo 'Love Is A Lost Cause' with all the music written, recorded and performed by Scott in the time between the end of the last band and start of BTFG. Due to Robert being away completing a degree in fine art, Gully filled in on all of the vocals in his absence.
Shortly after posting their first song on Myspace, BTFG received a message from American radio show 'The Gutter' on the 'Riverfront Radio' station asking if they would like airtime. The band are now regularly played on the station on both Mondays and Saturdays.
Already, the band have had some interest and communication from labels but are hindered by the incomplete line-up. The existing members of BTFG had decided to write an E.P until they received a message on Myspace from someone interested in filling the position of second guitarist. After a meeting, Howard Blott was named as second guitarist. BTFG will now concentrate their short-term efforts on recruiting a bassist and drummer. Anyone from the Northamptonshire area who is interested in stepping into either of the vacant roles is invited to send the band a message via Myspace.
Ultimately our ambition is to play alongside some of the best bands in the industry, but fundamentally BTFG's main concern is making good music which people enjoy listening to.
