About Me

ЯOTOR“For every generation, a new sound is born. Standing on the shoulders of giants, only a handful of musicians can find a way to draw from the past, sense the future and meld the vibrations and thoughts of both. These bands forge a new sound and vision, imprinting their mark on the world. Enter “ЯOTOR”. Kelly Marlow, Craig Banta, Karin Hallén and Bill Mickesh. Diverse, profound and rocking, “ЯOTOR” has arrived.” Larry Hansen Music Historian ------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------“ROTOR’s musicianship and iconoclastic songwriting are rapidly earning them respect and reputation as one of the most promising and original bands to emerge recently. Their sound and image appeal to a wide and growing audience…” Leslie Scott For BlogWired.com----------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------- “What I love about ROTOR is that even if you don’t know their songs you immediately want to sing along to all of them” Kathleen McGillis Fan/Journalist student----------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------------------ЯOTOR commands the provinces of heavy rock and pop as they venture beyond the borders of both with a sound that could be described as “Nine Inch Nails” meets “the BeeGees”. Influenced and inspired by a wide array of great bands before them; Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, U2, Pink Floyd, Queen and Nirvana, Rotor has made an uncompromising commitment to musical integrity and creative truth in everything they do.ЯOTOR was formed on Halloween 2007, when singer, songwriter, Kelly Marlow for the first time since age 4 reluctantly broke his tradition of trick or treating in favor of keeping a promise to a friend, joining him to a party. There Kelly met lead guitarist/songwriter Craig Banta. It was instant music magic. Before the night was over the duo had written four complete songs in Kelly’s car. The next day the two locked themselves in a tiny N. Hollywood studio over winter and worked 24/7.Fast forward three months, countless dollar burgers, 26 original songs and a demo later; The band ЯOTOR - now complete with drummer Bill “Machine Gun” Mickesh and bass player Karin Hallen - emerged from its den as a musical powerhouse with a message and a fervent chemistry as a band, ready to lift the world from complacency.Since their premier on the Hollywood music scene in March 2008 ЯOTOR has already gained a rapidly expanding following of music lovers all ages. They are currently gearing up for tour to support their new EP and to connect with future fans all over the country. For more information, or to experience ЯOTOR live, please call (323) 495 2119.

Karin Hallen's Profile

KELLY MARLOW - Lead Singer
Kelly was born and raised in St. Monica, CA and started singing along with the Beatles into a hairbrush, while playing “guitar” with a tennis racket in front of the mirror when he was 4. He formed his first band in junior high and has never been without one since. Kelly is a former respiratory therapist, occasional dog stylist just for the fun of it and likes to paint the fish in his father’s Koi pond.
KARIN HALLEN - Bass
Karin was raised on a farm in Sweden and has a solid grip on harvesting. She moved to Los Angeles in 2000, abandoning a career as an attorney to pursue one in film. She was one of the top 10 finalists on TV lands hit series, “She’s Got the Look” and is currently developing a sitcom. Having never played an instrument she picked up a bass in 2006 and has never looked back. Karin says she won the highest lottery, when she was given a chance to be part of ROTOR.
