About Me

archipelagos play fervent rock and roll, fiery lamentations, drunken hymns. They write songs with the heart of the forest floor and play them with the frenzied soul of the city.
Their songwriting and lyricism is greatly influenced by people like Leonard Cohen, Bill Callahan, Jason Molina, Gord Downie, Lou Reed.Their orchestration and performance, though, is more influenced by Flaming Lips, Neutral Milk Hotel, Okkervil River, Wilco, The National. The combination of traditional folk-based songs with the explosive Energyexcitement and unpredictability of their live performance creates the sound that they are quickly becoming known for.
They recorded their first record, Battles & Scars, over 5 freezing days in February 2007 at the Treatment Room. After it's release they toured all over eastern Canada, from Waterloo to Cape Breton.A year and a half worth of playing together has given them a strong sense of what they are musically and where they are going. With this the Dukes have begun to record their follow up record. Rumor has it that it's going to be good!
You can purchase Battles & Scars directly from the Dukes through the mystical union of MySpace and Paypal. They call him MyPal.
Or you can purchase it through iTunes stores around the known world.
