About Me

..

“The reality of truth is not to be bought, to be sold, to be repeated; it cannot be caught in books. It has to be found from moment to moment, in the smile, in the tear, under the dead leaf, in the vagrant thought, in the fullness of love.” ~ Jiddu Krishnamurti "The many great gardens of the world, of literature and poetry, of painting and music, of religion and architecture, all make the point as clear as possible: The soul cannot thrive in the absence of a garden. If you don't want paradise, you are not human; and if you are not human, you don't have a soul." ~ Thomas Moore

My Interests

Reading, writing, travel, animals, higher education, friends..

I'd like to meet:

Fellow writers and readers. Anyone skilled in the handling of alabaster, parchment, or gold leaf. People who aren't afraid to be judged on their own merit; just because you can, doesn't mean you should, and if you do, you should take responsibility. People who make the most of their gifts and talents, instead of wasting them. Those who understand that aesthetics are comprised of more than physical beauty. Others who are not content to dwell in mediocrity.

Music:

I like all music. Really. Even opera.

Movies:

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (Gene Wilder version) and anything by Peter Greenaway or Alfred Hitchcock. I enjoy mysteries, sci-fi, some adventure, but not many chick-flicks.

Television:

It's rare that I have time to watch TV, but I enjoy watching Grey's Anatomy, all the CSIs, Numb3rs, vintage Twilight Zone episodes, Cartoon Network's [adult swim], and science or history shows of particular interest.

Books:

Pick one. I'm a bibliotaph, and I have over 1,100 hardback volumes in my personal library. I collect modern fiction first editions, signed firsts, and first firsts. I have an extensive academic library, as well, with my pride being my Emily Dickinson reference materials.

Heroes:

My mother, who is a well of patience, strength, and support.
