I like to sculpt sound as if it were clay! :^)

About Me

smart, funny, quirky, analogue synthesizer obsessed electronic music producer with a fetish for ethnic percussion, interactive multimedia art installations, Tibetan Buddhism, IDM, psytrance, and funny little round wax disks with spiral grooves cut into them! :^) A big fan of making the world a better place through the cultivation of compassion and the simple act of smiling at everybody I meet. http://www.gift-culture.org http://www.initstring.org are my two projects.

My Interests

electronic music (IDM, downtempo, breakbeat, et. al), analogue synthesizers, esoteric sound synthesis techniques, mixing rekkids, ethnic percussion (indian, middle eastern, african, etc...), photography, Tibetan Buddhism, synchronicity, using technology to devise new mediums for creative artistic expresstion, leaving the world a more beautiful place than I found it...

I'd like to meet:

I'm looking for sombody whose basic impulse to create is as vital to them as the sun.Somebody who has an absolute passion and bliss for really abstract, beautiful electronic music (especially on the experimental, downtempo IDM breakbeat side of things, since that's what I listen to and make most of the time ;^)I'm looking for somebody to whom music is an extra sense, who always has the soundtrack to their lives playing in their heads. Somebody who answers to a muse, in whatever form that might happen to take.Somebody who isn't afraid to try new things and to have new experiences, and to sometimes blindly chase their bliss with wreckless abandon, laughing the entire way.Somebody who thinks that smart, funny, synthesizer obsessed, geeky electronic musicians are hot wouldn't hurt, either :^)

Music:

Autechre, Boards of Canada, Mu-ziq, mum, Stereolab, Laika, Bjork, Plaid, Rae and Christian, Kruder and Dorfmeister, Bola, Kilowatts, Initstring, gift-culture, nuco, !K7, funkstorung, squarepusher, twerk, four-tet, prefuse 73, radiohead, FSOL, and much much more...

Movies:

shawshank redemption, beautiful people, big fish, solaris, ghost in the shell, akira, spirited away, bladerunner, 2001, 2010, the transporter, kundun, office space, fried green tomatoes, requiem for a dream, spun, human traffic, eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, waking life, adaptation, being john malkovich, any and all steve martin movies.

Television:

whose line is it anyway, futurama, the simpsons, discovery channel (plus science, learning), food network, PBS (and npr for that matter), comedy central, history channel, hgtv, national geographic channel, etc...

Books:

The Age of Spiritual Machines, The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying, The Art of Happiness, Teachings on Love, The Computer Music Tutorial, DMT - The Spirit Molecule, Pihkal, Nada Brahman - the World is Sound, Last Night a DJ Saved My Life, Living in the Light, The Power of Myth, many more since I'm a hopeless bibliophile...

Heroes:

The Dalai Lama, Thich Nhat Hanh, Einstein, Alex Grey, anybody who strives to reduce suffering in the world, anybody who is brave enough to follow their bliss...
