THE MESSAGE:
(to be updated every so often...)the question often comes up as to where we got the name "colors you won't believe." the simple answer is our mysterious friend Al, the inspiration that helped to forge our song "men of steel."
he came about simply enough, in a swaggering and languid fashion. Arms flailing in an intoxicated way, he came in proudly proclaiming he was the only port washington guy in the bar. this was most definitely true, as he was only 1 of a dozen people, five of which were made up of the band and 3 others who worked there.
Al had read our name on the flyer at the door, but for the first few minutes while we set up he kept forgetting, despite his claims that he'd come all the way from port washington to hear us play. this was usually coupled with requests to go back to his apartment complex and check out the building's jacuzzi.
after a few songs, he began to pitch us an idea of his. it involved an elaborate story encouraging us to hire him as a manager, in return he'd buy us all camo-outfits. i remember being impressed with how much he made up on the spot. in addition, he would also become our stylist, because he declared the colors of the camo would be colors we wouldn't believe. a high sell, and a memorable statment.
as quickly as Al had come into our lives,, he was gone. the last we saw of the man was a slightly orange tanned skin and sweat soaked polo shirt walking on liquid legs down an uneven sidewalk carrying the badkarma ep. most people go through their whole lives wanting to be immortalized in song; the funny thing is, somewhere in NYC Al is walking around with no idea a doo-wop love song parody had been printed and distributed across NYS.
hopefully he'll find it and sue us.
-Quack
