About Me

Singer/SongwriterFrenchie has been gigging for years solo and in numerous bands including The Jackdaws and, more recently, RadioNasty. Going solo again he has just qualified for the second round of national talent contest Live and Unsigned UK.From a young age Frenchie has been wow-ing crowds with his enthusiasm and what seems to be effortless natural talent. He has a voice that reaches right into your soul, and sings about subjects that you can't help but identify with. Between Frenchie, his guitar and his songwriting partner, Julian Whittle, in 2002 they created the first solo album 'New Dawn'. He preceded to gig in and around the local area, to an ever-growing and loyal crowd. 2003 saw Frenchie swap his acoustic guitar for an electric and the formation of the band, The Jackdaws. This 4 piece were together for over three years, building up a large repertoire of original material which kept them gigging solidly for the time that they were together. The Jackdaws, with Frenchie as the 'Exploding Blues Rhinoceros' (!) frontman, quickly earned a reputation for being a very fierce and exciting band, which saw a more diverse fan singing along to their extremely catchy songs. At the end of 2006 the Jackdaws unfortunately split and Frenchie went on to create RadioNasty with the help of a few friends. This 4 piece saw the same exploding Frenchie as was in the Jackdaws but also had a drum and bass edge which reached out to an even wider fan base. They were only together for a year but did numerous gigs at the Yorkshire house and packed out the Phoenix Club. Frenchie loved the experience of playing a different style of music than he had grown up listening to, but just couldn't get the rock'n'roll out of his blood, so decided to leave the band in early 2007 to concentrate on his solo music. He has since written and recorded his second solo album 'Four Years Later' with his song writing partner Julian Whittle and will be giving this out at his upcoming gigs. Frenchie was asked to go down to Salford for the Live and Unsigned UK competition and was one of 15 out of 300 other hopefuls that qualified through to the regional semi-finals, which will take place back in Salford in February this year. He is not to be missed so make sure you look out for any gigs in the future!
