Polly Wood originally comes from Devon, in the picturesque south-west penninsula of the British Isles. Growing up surrounded by rural beauty lead her to a passion for the simpler things in life which she reflects through her music. Her fathers love of country music (Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Kenny Rogers etc) exposed Polly early on to a genre that would ultimately influence, though not dominate, her own musical style.
Having dabbled with instruments from an early age, Polly had an affinity with music that led her to start writing lyrics from age 12, but it was only after being handed a guitar after a drunken Christmas Party many years later, that Polly discovered the means that would allow her to cross the bridge from 'poet' to 'songwriter'. Over the next five years Polly continued to write and play, though her shyness prevented her from ever sharing her music with anyone other than her partner. It was only through him that Polly eventually gained the confidence to 'come out of the closet' and start putting her music out there. It paid off. Within a month she had been contacted by a well-respected publisher in the industry. It was a huge changing point in her life and attitude towards her music - suddenly her hobby had become a career opportunity and she gained the much needed affirmation in her talents from an outsider. Polly is now working on building her reportiore and gaining the essential experience of playing live. She frequently gigs around the South-central area and is always extremely well received. She is in no rush to become famous, after all, its all about the journey.
