Since my early teens I have been performing and writing music. As a teenager I played drums in Gospel, Rock, Jazz and Country. However, the greatest musical fulfillment has been singing, playing acoustic guitar, writing, recording and performing over the last 14 years. For many years as and independent artist, I had the opportunity to travel the country multiple times as well as Mexico and Europe. In addition, I have released several singles to radio.Since 1987, I have recorded several independent projects (some, even as a drummer!) and continue to grow as an artist through continued writing, performing, NSAI (Nashville Songwriter's Association) and Writing Seminars in and around Nashville. I have been a student of great writers (see influences)and continue to pursue music opportunities through song plugging services, demoing my songs and pitching my music as an artist and writer to film and television, labels, artists and publishers. In the midst of all of these endeavors I managed to graduate from The University of Southern Indiana with a Teaching Degree in Elementary Education.TIMELINE: 1983-1992-Performed and recorded on multiple projects as a Drummer for Gospel, Rock, Jazz and Country. 1993-1999-recorded "Step Up Close" Cassette, "If Anyone is Thirsty"CD with my band, "The Average Joes" 2000-2007- Recorded two projects, released two singles and recorded several demos in Nashville, TN. On July 29, 2008 I will begin recording my first record as a Lucky One Records Artist. Following a National release, single releases, and a possible Video, I will begin touring heavily in support of Nationally released singles and a record (as of yet untitled). Until then, please feel free to check out my demos on the music player and come out and hang with me at one of the events listed on my calendar!-Joe MichaelHeader Banner Made with MyBannerMaker.com! The Sweet Spot in Life

My latest read is Max Lucado's, "Cure for the Common Life". And from an Artist's point of view, it is truly a gem. Max poses the question something like this, "what is it that when you do it...
