Sizing you up, judging you silently, communicating that judgment back to you non-verbally
Albert Spaggiari, Edward R Murrow, Marc Bolan, Keith Richards' dad's cremains, Michael McDonald, Peter Gallagher, Judge Ito, someone to sell me zubaz after hours, Raquel Welsh, Ben Sheets, The Governator, Shadoe Stevens
What a slow night that I've made this list! Consider yourself privilaged - there's usually just a snide remark here.AC/DC, Afghan Whigs, Aimee Mann, Air, Andre Williams, Arcade Fire, Archers of Loaf, Art Brut, Bad Company, Beatles, Beta Band, Big Star, Biz Markie, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Bloc Party, Boss Hog, Boston, Bruce Springsteen, Built To Spill, Call Me Lightning, Carole King, Cat Stevens, Cheap Trick, China Pig, Clerance Carter, Clinic, Commodores, Cure, Curtis Mayfield, Danzig, David Bowie, Deep Purple, Descendents, Diamond Nights, Dirtbombs, Eagles of Death Metal, Elliot Smith, ELO, Fleetwood Mac, Fugazi, Funkadelic, Goldfrapp, Guns 'N Roses, Hall and Oates, Heart, Herc., Idlewild, Iron Maiden, Jail, Jaime Lidell, Jeff Buckley, Joe Walsh/James Gang (but not The Eagles), John Frusciante, Joy Division, KISS, Led Zeppelin, Lemonheads, Les Savy Fav, Make-Up, Mott The Hoople, My Morning Jacket, Oasis, Outkast, Parliament, Party of Helicopters, Pixies, Placebo, Prince, Pulp, Queen, Refused, Replacements, Rilo Kiley, Rolling Stones, Roxy Music, Rush, Say Anthing (guilty pleasure maybe, but I catch myself listening to it a lot), Shakira, Shins, Shuggie Otis, Skull Time, Slade, Smiths, Spoon, Stealers Wheel, Steely Dan, Stevie Wonder, Supergrass, Supernova (the real one from outer space/San Diego), Supertramp, Sweet, T. Anything with the word "balls" in the title is usually intellectually stimulating. But, unconjoinedly, I love the Wes Anderson/P.T. Anderson/David Lynch trinity of hipster film piety and many of its derivatives. I hated I Heart Huckabees less than most. I even kind of hearted it. Superbad is so funny that it becomes exhausting, but I have to consider that a backhanded complaint on my part. I need a repeat viewing, but I think The Darjeeling Limited could be planning a meteoric rise into my top 5.
Lost, The Office, Simpsons and Family Guy. That's about it. If you happen to ever give me a haircut and need to pull out some small talk on me, these are the only shows I know about.
Wikipedia, like an addiction. In actual book form, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Missed Dave Eggers at Schwartz but it's making me want to read Heartbreaking Work again.
"I wasn't like every other kid, you know, who dreams about being an astronaut, I was always more interested in what bark was made out of on a tree. Richard Gere's a real hero of mine. Sting. Sting would be another person who's a hero. The music he's created over the years, I don't really listen to it, but the fact that he's making it, I respect that." - Hansel
